The mains came, and Amy was able to place them with no confusion. The unfortunate taste of the decor was soon replaced by the food. The awful decor almost disappeared. Almost. The tackiness of the place never really goes away but the food was a great distraction. I tired the veal, and was surprised at the quality of the dish. It was layered in sage, and a fine sauce. It was tender and easy to eat. Visually it looked terrific, small medallions of veil placed on packed potato wedges. The sage flavour was incorporated into the whole dish. A friend has been telling me about sage, but I didn't realise what she was talking about until this dish. I could taste it all the way the drive home. My partner tried the lamb cutlets. There was no complaints from him. He was going to order something other, but we suggest he try those, as he would never really get them cooked at home. Nana tried the Chicken Cesar Salad. I was impressed by the look of the poached egg as it sauced the lettuce. The food I could not fault, and the wait stuff were okay, but there is really only so much they can do in that self service, Amy ended up polishing cutlery just so he could enthuse to do (it is a boring job, but she kept them going.) So we never saw Amy after the main service. That was a pity as I wanted to give the tip, but I thought I would be trying to hard. I recommend this place because of the food, the decor is hideous. A lot of old people go there, so I can only assume that it is good value for money. And Nana likes to play to pokies, so that is why she invited us there in first place. It would be a good place to take your parents. There is also a self service water station. I can't fault to food (no one even used salt or pepper), though the surroundings are on the other side of pretty. Amy was amazing and I only wish she was running the floor (and would implement table survive..ordering from the table.) The decor is amusing to put it nicely. Get past visuals and intrusive TV screens, and I think it is a great place for a great serve off food. With the quality of service, and the great food this place could only benefit from a make over. It is a Racecourse with 150+ years of history, why not make it feel like that. Instead there is just the remains of an 1980's renovation. The whole time I was there I don't believe I ever saw something that reflected the image of a horse. With such a rich history, it is a shame that the Caulfield Racecourse does not put it on display. If I am going to the Racecourse I would be nice to see something that reminds me that I am actually at the racecourse. Even though I would never invite someone there because of the decor, I would eat their on the sly as the food was great. The wine is also expensive, at around $9 a glass. Considering there is a wine glut in Australia, this place should lead the way and offer relative prices. Overall, I think if they marketed this place the right way they could do wonders, but I guess they are more worried about the pokies. Tacky but some great dishes.

Came here with a friend for some lunch after a beach morning. It was about $20 a head for a lunch pack and a beer. Everything was cooked very well, presented nicely, tasted very fresh. Service was great, good place to come for lunch and very close to the beach.

One of the best Indian Restaurants in Melbourne. Reasonable prices, perfect taste, everything is, i should say 10/10.

Nice place for an informal meal. Good value for money, and they speak Spanish if you like to practice the lenguage.

It's a terrific place, they serve nice for a fairly reasonable price. The thing I loved the most was how they presented the desserts. Instead of a plain old menu, a waiter comes to you with the desserts on a tray. They then show it to you and explain each one of them. It's splendid. My favourite was the indulgent chocolate cupcake :). The only thing I will complain is that the entrance is quite squishy, and the limited space available in the restaurant means they've tried to cram as many tables as possible into the restaurant. That makes it a bit squishy and difficult to walk through the restaurant. Plus all the people makes it noisy. But in general, it's a good restaurant.

When we first arrived We waited 30 minutes for our table to be ready, saw Brin Eccleston walk out with crutches and our maître d' put on the worst Italian accent I've heard. Once seated everything was great, our waiter was friendly and the food was very nice they even brought out a birthday cupcake for me. Recommended.

Quite expensive, but a unique experience in itself. The interior is beautiful! One of the best looking restaurants in Melbourne.

Tucked away in the north outer burbs of the CBD in Brunswick's West, John Gorilla is a quirky little cafe with a school house feel. The menu offers a variety of breakfast staples, hearty lunches and delicious sandwiches.

The best cup of coffee in Melbourne - bar none.

Freindly customer service better than around the corner

The cuisine was playful, inventive, surprising, delightful. It was everything we imagined, plus a lot more that could only spring from the imagination of a culinary genius. Chef Domenico De Marco greeted guests, with a leisurely chat at each table. The man exudes positivity and enthusiasm. He just glows. It was such a pleasure and honor to meet him. If it's your first time here, go ahead with the tasting menu. It’s why you’ve come here. Relax and let the team transport you into bliss. There are only a handful of restaurants that can deliver at this level. I’m deeply grateful for their dedication and sacrifice. Buon lavoro! Ad Maiora!
