Rare Steakhouse Downtown
4.5
/ 536

42-44 King St 3000, Melbourne

Incredible gourmet steakhouse. The meat was perfect and prepared to perfection. Wine pairing was spot on, and the cocktails were delicious! Highly recommended for the best steak in Melbourne.

Baxter tavern
4.1
/ 681

Baxter-tooradin rd 0, Melbourne

I last dined at the Baxter Tavern on the 29/11/2012 Some reviewers seem very biased and one sided and the most part forgetting they are eating at a Tavern/Pub you cant expect Jamie Oliver to bring out your meal with Eric Bana's sense of humor. Your not eating at the press club so don't compare the two its like trying to compare a Mercedes to a Holden, its just not right. All analogies aside My family have been dining at the Baxter tavern once a month for 3-4 years now, I can honestly say compared to other pubs in the area, this is above most, It is very ambient with 2 open fires burning brightly. The bar is fair - good value, Jugs of beer are $12. We have always had good meals, again I wouldn't say their excellent but value for money is defiantly the case. I come most nights for the American Style pork ribs. $25 for 3 Racks of ribs with a side of chips, considering how much pork ribs are to buy from a butcher, this is great value, I have payed north of $35 for a smaller meal. Pizza's are excellent and the steaks are usually cooked correctly.None the less, I adore dining at the Tavern, I usually throw $10 on the pokies and before you know your meal usually takes no more than 15-20 minutes ( a well cooked steak will take up to 30 min ) but we are always informed that before we confirm the order. Yes the line is rather large to line up at peak time, which is usually 6:30 - 7:30 roughly. I would suggest a second counter to speed up the process and trim the ordering line from obscuring a main walkway to the bar. If you appreciate great food at very decent prices you can overlook the cons and just enjoy yourself. I can honestly say I have never left without being dissapointed. Remember its a Tavern. Peace x

Royston Hotel
4.8
/ 422

12 River St 3121, Melbourne

What a quirky warm and cool little Hotel.. the Royston Hotel is! The dining room is dim lit and quiet and offers an intimate dining experience with a great menu selection. I had the wild mushroom with barley risotto and it was lovely although a bit too much for me. My guests had the calamari and said it was the BEST she had ever had! I agreed when I had a bite! I shared the apple crumble, which was absolutely lovely and our guests also had the sticky date pudding which not only tasted great but the effort in the presentation was appreciated. The staff were attentive and friendly and the front bar wasn't overly big, which made it warm and inviting .. like your own little local. We finished the night in the front bar and sat in some well positioned comfy lounge chairs near the cool feature wall. For those who don't mind a game of pool .. there's also a table there as well. What a great little find!

Milk the Cow
4.5
/ 470

323 Lygon St 3053, Melbourne

Love it! Knowledgeable staff, great variety of alcohol to cheese matches and reasonable prices. A win!

Pier 35 Bar & Grill
4.2
/ 574

263-329 Lorimer St 3207, Melbourne

Great chef grade food at a pauper price with the $14 lunch menu. Fantastic location, unpretentious, welcoming staff. In a remote location in the docks of Mellbourne for the serious food hounds. Must, must visit as this place deserves more business.

Hawker Chan Australia
3.4
/ 1072

157 Lonsdale St 3000, Melbourne

Soy chicken and rice was tasty. Only problem was chicken was cold!

Abacus Bar & Kitchen
4.0
/ 652

383 Chapel St South Yarra 3141, Melbourne

Great space. The food is good although I think the buckwheat crepes are better as a dessert than breakfast. The Tim Tams AND chocolate ganache makes it too sweet for me; and for a breakfast/lunch item, it's too much for me.

Berth
4.3
/ 515

45 New Quay Promenade Docklands 0, Melbourne

It only has advantage of good view and location. Bad selection menu and ordinary food. Yet expensive

Father's Office
3.9
/ 673

249 Little Lonsdale St 3000, Melbourne

great little spot for after work drinks. especially loved the old rail car folding seats... could make for some very interesting and/or awkward out-of-office activities.

A Hereford Beefstouw
4.5
/ 428

22 Duckboard Pl 3000, Melbourne

Such a great meal. What I was most impressed by was that there really is something for everyone. I can't imagine that's an easy thing to execute successfully - but it's made to look effortless at A Hereford Beefstouw. Our troop of 4 adults and 3 kids didn't look out of place amongst the business folk coming down on their lunch break due to the clever positioning of tables and chairs, and we were able to enjoy our meal fully as they were kept entertained by the colouring books/menu! I'm struggling to think of anywhere in the Melbourne CBD that has struck the sort of balance this place has which allows it to be on trend as well as practical, and serve quality food without being pretentious. We'll be back!

Andrew's Hamburgers
4.3
/ 482

144 Bridport St 3206, Melbourne

If you're ever forced to eat an Australian fish-and-chip-shop-style burger, with all the mushy badness that entails, get it from here - you won't die. The chips are good though.

Soho Restaurant and Bar
3.9
/ 643

4 Riverside Quay 3006, Melbourne

Great Pizza's and entrees. Right there on Southbank, doesn't get much better than a wine and a slice of Pizza on a Sunday afternoon. The did seem to take a while with the drinks, but maybe I was just thirsty...

Beatrix
4.5
/ 411

688 Queensbury Street 688 Queensbury Street, Melbourne, Victoria 0, Melbourne

Beatrix is a cute & cozy cafe with a nice atmosphere. It's a nice place to stop for something sweet & a coffee but if you want a hearty breakfast I wouldn't bother. The coffee is excellent, the cakes & baked goods are great. The breakfast/lunch menu is limited so you'd expect the food to be better. The Bea-L-T on gluten free bread I had was very average & unsatisfying for a questionably high price. The staff are nice but service is slow & they aren't very specific about the gluten free options. I would go back for sure but not for brunch, there are so many better options in North Melbourne for that.

Embla

122 Russell St 3000, Melbourne

An instant classic Melbourne bar from the Town Mouse crew.

The Breslin Bar & Grill

2 Southbank Bvd 3006, Melbourne

Great food & great atmosphere. One of my favourite places to go.
