I rate this as the best Italian in Sydney - beautiful handmade pastas and the service is always so knowledgeable and pleasant - a great spot for a date or dinner with friends.

Great French vibe, had breakfast here twice whilst in Sydney. So yummy and excellent value. Amazing home made cakes every day made me wish I could've been there for afternoon tea. Also played cool music. Loved it.

Nice smoked salmon salad, a bit overpriced like most of Sydney.

A very enjoyable dining experience with very delicious food, beautiful ambience and attentive but not intrusive service. Well worth a visit!
259 Riley St Surry Hills 2010, Sydney
Tortelli of the day (pumpkin) with truffle cream sauce - did not disappoint, as other reviews would agree. Decor is rustic and classy, suits the Surry Hills environment. Friendly service, and quiet on a weekday. Also had the ragu, mince was tender and sauce was flavourful. The pasta was perfect al dente. Price 14 for entree, 16 for main course portion. Expensive at first, but completely worth it. Will be back again.

Been here a number of times. Their eastern European cuisine is delicious and servings are large. If you love your grilled meat you should really try their platters. The beef goulash is amazing and all meals are served with side salads. If you are of eastern European origins you will feel right at home. Otherwise enjoy the euro music, and tacky decorations. It's all part of the experience!

The food is excellent as is the ambience. Our Crew Hotel is right next door and we have dined there many times. It is recommended only for the food and my rating reflects that as the Staff appear to be bored with their jobs and give rather off-hand service. What a pity! If they could give just that extra bit of effort with a smile and a welcome .... It would have been 5 stars. However we will all continue to visit if only for the excellent pianist.

I have been to Clairs's kitchen at le Salon many times since its opening. I have been very pleased with everything, the service and the food was always amazing. I highly recommend this place for a good night out.

Amazing food but poor poor service I had dinner there last Saturday night with my friend. I originally requested for a 6pm booking but was advised they could only seat us at 8:30pm which was odd because when we arrived there were a few empty tables. We were greeted very nicely by a french female staff who seated us but it took a while for someone to come back take our order and that was because we had to wave someone down and there were plenty of staff around. We had the 5 course degustation with matching wines. Every dish that came out was absolutely delicious! highly recommend doing the tasting menu however the Pumpkin foie Gra was the least favourite - there was a very small shaving of foie gra on the pumpkin, you could hardly taste it but everything else on the plate was very tasty. The duck was yummy and the beef was amazing! Everything was going great until the matching wines. The first 2 wines came out just before our dishes however we didn't get our wines for the rest of our courses until later. And I mean... later. We were practically done with each dish before one of the staff came over and asked if we have received our wines. We said no and then someone came over and hastily pour us 2 glasses... This happened 2 more times. We just kept getting asked if we had received our wines and then glasses were poured for us even though we had finished that course and was almost onto the next course. For dessert, we had finished our wines and still had previous glasses of red wines on our table. By then we were a bit fed up and asked for the bill. While we were waiting, a staff came over and proceeded to talk about 'the dessert wine' and was about to pour us a glass (for our last course which we had finished) but we politely said we had already asked for the bill. Working in hospitality and running a restaurant myself i feel I had to say something to the manager in charge. Nothing cruel, just a bit of feedback. The French gentleman in red pants and a white shirt clearly did not want to hear anything I had to say, he kept saying "ok" "ok" over and over again while i was speaking. Unbelievable. Not even an apology or anything. I don't know if this is just sterotypical French attitude or extremely poor service from the front of house but if you're working at a restaurant of this kind of caliber, you would expect the service to be more, a lot more. If you don't mind eating a decent meal but receive bad service and no wines with your MATCHING WINES tasting menu then, by all means, book yourself a table.
Such wonderful food, huge portions, beautifully presented and really good value. The service is really friendly. Definitely have the red cabbage salad, the lamb and haloumi gnocchi. I'm always too full to try desert but they look good.
