Zilver Bondi

STAY AWAY that is all !

Last night we ventured into Zilver in Bondi Junction at 8pm following a movie. We were greeted at the door by a waiter who showed us to a small table for two in the middle of the large but not very busy restaurant. I was surprised when he made a motion to pull out a chair on the far side of the table and as I was walking around to it, he seemed to think better of the gesture and walked off, simultaneously almost throwing two menus on the table. Hmmmm .......but I really only started to get annoyed when I found there was actually only one menu, the other being the wine list. We looked around several times to find a waiter to request another menu. No such luck. At the counter a woman was processing payment from a guest who was leaving and another man behind the counter was busying himself doing I'm not sure what. I thought if I caught their eye they might send a waiter to assist us. No. On the other side of the room another staff member was stacking used dishes onto a trolley. A waitress passed our table with a selection of sweets bound for another table but didn't pass by our table on the way back. I read out some items on the menu to my husband and we discussed. This really wasn't working so he got up and came stood behind me so that we could view the menu together. Further discussion between casting our eyes around the restaurant to order drinks and request another menu. Nobody home. We made our decision on the menu and drinks and waited. And waited. We discussed further options if we ran out of patience. We did run out of patience and so we left. Nobody noticed. I spied a lone man who I had noticed arrive earlier. He had found himself a table and sat down. "Good Luck" I said.

Situated conveniently inside Westfield Bondi Junction, Zilver is a contemporary Chinese restaurant to enjoy a nice lazy weekend yum cha feast. Most of the usual dumplings and other delights were available the trolleys which was pleasing. They also feature some adorable, cute dessert buns as well which were fun to try. I loved the salted egg yolk bun but the taro pearl one - the pearls were a bit too hard inside. Overall, a good dining experience.

Great food, no complaints there. Service wasn't altogether too bad but there were some assumptions or miscommunications which the staff could have handled better. Don't expect to split the bill or ask for much flexibility beyond whatever systems they already have in place.

Awesome place to go for a fast bite while still getting to relax and enjoy an indoor restaurant. We are big dumplings. Freshly cooked greens.

Quality is ok to good, pricey for what it is, the service is all over the place and the pork not much flavour, the duck was tasteless and the chicken even worst. They bring you the rice first and then the meats 20 minutes later, not on guys, you need to learn to at least bring two dishes together, what you see in the picture for lunch no wine just bear over $150, pricey.

Horrible experience. First and only visit today. The cart ladies would sigh when we didn't take a dish when they brought the cart over and give you a weird look. To top this off at the cashier, I got a short lecture for not being able to tap my card and pay with savings. Remember to only insert your card people.

Over the last 3 years we have celebrated Chinese New Year at Zilver, Bondi. Apart from the convenience and free parking, the food and service far surpasses any other Chinese restaurant during this very busy period. Without a doubt, we will be back next year.

Terrible service and bad attitude. The roast duck spilts two dishes, one is wrapped is ok. Another one called Lettus wrap, it’s duck is not same as previous one. Not fresh at all. They didn’t admit it and refused refund but only change another dish. Never go again!

Excellent food. We have ordered sweet and sour pork one of the best I eat in Sydney. The service is okay 😊
