Valentino's Family Restaurant

Tried out Valentino's based on the great reviews but I feel it does not live up to the hype. Pizza was so-so (tasted like a downgraded version of the La Porchetta chain in Melbourne) but the cheesecake was a complete flop. As it had been taken out from the freezer not too long before ending up on my table, the biscuit base was hard as a rock. I found myself picking up crumb pieces from the floor instead of eating the cake. Ended up using a knife, spoon and fork to eat my cake; which I guess was a novelty.

Absolutely amazing! Was very surprised at the quality of food and the amazing service.

Service great. My steak was well cooked and tender. Stir fry seasonal vegetables well cooked and crispy. The vegetables did not have much potato. A potato in its jacket with sour cream and chives and I would have given it five stars.

Food was reasonable as were the prices. Lacking in ambience though. A bit barn like,draughty and to close to other patrons for the time we are going through. Sitting around a table against the wall with two thirds of the place empty.

Sadly we were disappointed with Valentino's last week. We have been here a few times previously and never had any issues, however this evening was a different experience. To start with, the booking made "didn't exist". Then our order took 1 hr & 8 mins no less, after telling us that it was "about to be served". 15mins later, checked again & were told it "isn't far away". The pizza & lasagne were very nice when they finally arrived however & the colouring in activity pack and free dessert was appreciated by our 6 y.o. & was a nice touch. The portions of lasagne served were entree size, but charged at main meal prices (in the past they were larger). Probably no longer worth the trip from Burnie if you were considering doing so.

Friendly staff but all the food served to us was unsalted! First rule my mum taught me for cooking pasta: salted water!
