The Groper & His Wife

We used to go here a lot but have noticed it going downhill lately. They generally turn off the phone during peak times and don't do online orders which is very frustrating. I turned up at 6:20pm, ordered and had to wait outside for almost 40 minutes for my order (3 serves). Meanwhile a steady stream of Uber Eats were collected. The grilled snapper was quite nice but the battered shark wasn't. Chips were really dry and overcooked. They have lost a loyal customer.

I rode home for 40 minutes on my scooter with fish and chips wrapped in a plastic bag. I was expecting soggy chips and average fish but this was hands down the best fish and chips I've had all year. Everything was crispy and fresh. And it tasted incredible despite the 40 minute travel. Thanks guys, don't change a thing.

Had lunch at the Claremont restaurant. They had a special $19. 90 for snapper mussels and a beer. I asked if I could have a salad with the fish instead of mussels and beer and I was charged extra for the salad! Not very fair I think.

The fish seemed fresh, but the preparation was bad. Everything was slimy and oily. I tried their special crispy breading on the fish and it tasted horrible. I don't recommend this place.

We had a snapper fried fish and chips special... Very fresh calamaris and everything was perfect. Crispy and Juicy and not oily at all. Love it !!! We ll be back again

We used to buy our fish and chips there when the original owners had the shop but hadn't been there for a while. I cant ell you how bad it was. On Sunday evening the 19/1/2020 we decided to go there for fish and chips again , we ordered 2 x fisherman's baskets, what a mistake ,the fish was dry and overcooked and the chips were also over cooked oily .A big thumbs down to The Groper and His Wife in City Beach
