The greeting and service we got was spectacular. The lovely woman running the front of house is exceptionally kind and has a great sense of humour. The food is delightful and the steamed BBQ pork buns are to die for, even if you accidentally eat the paper like my girlfriend did. A beautiful, understated family restaurant with no weak points. We definitely will be going back!
Great authentic Cantonese cuisine! The unassuming decor and size of this restaurant might fall under the radar of many diners but we had a great meal here. My family of 3 enjoyed it lots. The spring roll starter was well cooked and crispy. We also had fried rice which had lots of meat and vegetables, and a plate of stir fried mixed vegetables with cashew nuts which was cooked perfectly with both crunchy and soft textures and the sauce was delicate and not overly salty or oily. The sizzling Szechuan pepper chicken was a great balance of peppery goodness with a rich sauce. Overall great meal and friendly service, despite the slightly long waiting time as there seemed to be only one wait staff and one chef. Regardless, we'll definitely return π
Coming from Melbourne, I was looking for a good restaurant to eat in Canberra and discovered The East Kitchen. The lady was very friendly and nice to us. We had a great conversation and service was excellent. No need to mention how the food was. Big portion, value for money, very tasty and delicious. We really enjoyed the dinner there. They were about to close but they waited for us until we finished eating. Will definitely go back to the restaurant when we come to Canberra again. Continue prospering in the business, you deserve it..β€οΈ
Great casual place for dinner. Visiting my daughter at ANU she wanted Chinese food because it is her favorite. Meals were excellent, and priced around $16 each, so good value. Serving size is very good. We had Satay sticks for starters and they were the best we've had ever. They sit on a base of delicious honey (I think) sauce and had the satay sauce on the side. Yum. The restaurant was nice and warm inside and it was lovely service. What a great place for the Canberra uni students to go. No need to get dressed up and cheap food.
Love this place, the produce and flavours are always so fresh and high quality - you can taste the care and effort that goes into every dish. Absolutely delicious pork buns, and the best prawns you'll get anywhere. Update - The silver thread loaf in chili flavour is a must try, it's the most delicious street style food you will ever eat and so flavoursome - make sure they show you how to eat it though! Try a weeknight as it can get busy on weekends π
Wonderful customer service and although the food was slow, it was wonderfully timed with staggered dishes. It actually made the meal more enjoyable! The dishes themselves were delicious and very generous in serving size. Thank you to both you and your brother for a wonderful night.
Family-run restaurant. The service is wonderful and the food is fresh. A great experience overall.
This really met my expectations when I was craving Chinese takeaway. Fried rice has a nice salty ham and plenty of prawns. The lemon chicken was very crispy and a sweet and flavourful lemon sauce.
Really good food, will definitely be back. Be prepared for a wait as food freshly cooked and itβs a brother and sister only operation. However that wasnβt a problem for us and we appreciated the food even more when it did arrive. Try the silver thread loaf -so good!
Always great food, with special desserts rivalling some of the best cafes around. Personally love the beef with ginger and shallots. Juicy and absolutely not chewy, with the smoky taste of wok hei. ππ²
