Durham never fails to impress. The last time I was in Canberra was around 2 years ago. I can’t remember the last time I was at the Durham but it’s always been somewhere I check out when I’m in town. I returned to Canberra after being in a Japan for 18 months. The last time I had a schnitty was probably at least 18 months ago so I may have a skewed view. However, the Durhams schnitty lived up to expectations, it was delicious and was exactly what I wanted. Couple that with their excellent drinks list that includes local wines you really can’t go wrong for a pandemic lunch and end of days. Do yourself a favour, if you’re in Canberra and would like a great pub meal. Head on in to the Durham in Kingston.

One of my favourite - and original - pubs in Canberra. Since the Wig and Pen closed down and the new boys on the block rolled up (Capital Brewing and Bentspoke) the Canberra beer scene has really taken off! But I had a nice pint of Speckled Old Hen here followed by a beautiful Russian Imperial Stout 10.5% (Bentspoke) so you have great choices and you can mix and match. Very knowledgeable bar staff. And excellent buffalo wings (not sure those chickens had happy lives so felt guilty). The salt and pepper calamari was also good - fewer ethical qualms! Highly recommended.

We had a large team of hungry women (rugby players). We were easily accommodated, and the service was efficient. Food came out quickly, the orders correct and the food was great. Staff were friendly and allowed for split payments. Would highly recommend this venue.

The pub is almost there - vibe is great and drinks are what you need from a pub. But the food is average - everything is fried. Would be great if they could include a soup of the day or pot pie etc. Just something to break up the fried food! Will come back for drinks but not for dinner unfortunately.

Spent St. Patrick's Day 2021 here. Been here twice now. A great English-style pub with Guinness on tap! The staff are welcoming and provide great service. Great pub food on the menu (I highly rate the Porterhouse steak and Bangers & Mash). Wonderful atmosphere inside and out. Live music, trivia nights, a lot going on. Did I mention they have Guinness on tap? Enough said.

I had a duck confit which was just delicious, it had lots of fresh spring veggies and was not your typical pub meal. My spouse had a vegetarian Indian style paneer, loved it and the garlic bread was the best either of us have ever had. To top off the great food, the service provided by the guy behind the bar was excellent. He was friendly and was also aware of when we finished our drinks and was over offering more drinks and bringing them to the table.

We went there for New Year's Eve and made an advance booking thinking it would be packed. However, the place was mostly empty. Honestly, the food was too overpriced for the quality on offer. The chicken schintzel was quite disappointing. The mushroom sauce was underwhelming and too salty. The coleslaw was clearly prepped ages ago as it was pretty soggy and unappetising. My friend still liked the buffalo wings; I found them pretty average. Ditto for grilled chicken. Having said that, I will note that I was pleasantly surprised when they didn't charge us for the second glass of wine I ordered after I accidentally spilled the first one. That was nice of them (Only giving 3 stars because of this). I liked the rustic decor and I suppose it's a good place for catching up with friends over drinks. But I will not recommend this place if you are looking for a decent place to eat and drink.
