I had the Chicken Katsu Curry and it was definitely underwhelming. The chicken piece was small and it felt like it was just microwaved. Would of been nice to at least have the chicken flash fried to get it hot and crispy. Also, there definitely needs to be a bigger piece of chicken. Other places can manage to give bigger pieces of chicken for the same price.

Best sushi place ive ever been to, it has amazing food and delicous desserts. I recommend to all.

Food taste and quality, as well as service, are good. Menu have changed though - scaled back since Covid.

Sushi-Ya has been a favourite and reliable 'go to' for over 15 years be it their Artarmon or Chatswood locations. I can honestly say that I haven't had a single dish here that wasn't first class. Always fresh and always prepared perfectly. Value for money is great.

I probably would have given more stars if they actually consider to better use of their kitchen exhaust. Foods are not bad and very reasonably priced but why have a kitchen exhaust and not use it while you are cooking. If you want people to dine in and have a better experiences then your place simply can't be smelling of cooking oil. If your ventilation system has issue then should get it fixed. You gotta make your dining place more pleasant so people will want to come back again. Honest opinions......

Pork Katsu is very delicious but sushi is not the most freshest.

We used to come here quite often when they opened more than a decade ago. They used to be better is all i can say. Heaps better. In all areas. Tempura udon 2.5/5, we dont mind if the broth came out of a bottle. But the quality of the tempuras were below par esp the prawns. Seriously ditch the old prawns. Unagi set 2.5/5, mushy eel does not a good unagi set make. Black cod 1/5, i cant be bothered to describe the atrociousness of this. Karaage set 2.75/5, the saviour of the night which is to damn with faint praise. The quality of the rice left a lot to be desired.

Our latest dining experience at Sushi Ya was not as good as before. The service was sloppy and abrupt. It was hard to get attention and the service was minimal. I guess it might be a busy night or not enough staff on duty.
