Sugarcane Restaurant

I had dinner with a friend 3 months ago. The food was average Asian fusion. I was very disappointed that every 5 min a waiter / some times different waiter was asking how our food was. Our food and conversation was continually interrupted by wait staff over zealous of asking for our approval. Food was overpriced. I would not recommend this place. Back packer workers being rude and not giving diners space. Stay Away.

Visited here for my birthday with the family. Ambience and decor is lively. We were impressed with a majority of the items we ate. For entree, we had the Betel Leaf and Hiramasa Kingfish. The betel leaf isn't great value at $7/leaf, however the Kingfish was fantastic and a great teaser for the mains. For main we ordered, the mince salad, fish curry, beef rendang and an octopus salad dish( forgot the name!). The octopus was our favourite followed by the mince, then fish curry. Beef rendang was ok, different to the traditional one we're used to but still great quality! Would definitely visit again and recommend to Thai lovers segueing from the usual Thai joints.

Booked 1 month before for our small wedding dinner. Confirmed with booking manager for the print menu and small table, but when we arrive there was nothing. Also, the reception didn't know the bride name when we drop off the cake. This is so embarrassing. I think between booking Manager and staff, they lack of communication. Should be a 5 star for the food and service. BUT SORRY I HAVE TO DEDUCT 1 STAR because of the misleading information.

Will never go to here again. Children are not welcome here. The very rude French manager asked us to "turn down the volume" as my babies were whining and crying. We had already booked at 5.30pm when families come and asked to be outside which they couldn't facilitate and already we were feeling bad about it so were trying to eat as quickly as possible. It was to celebrate my father's and sister's birthday and it just ruined the night.

Friendly staff. Unfortunately, pretty much all dishes we had were slathered in oyster sauce, to the point that even the veggie side was too salty to eat. Left half our food behind.

The food was simply amazing. Suggestions by the maitred re selections and sizing were excellent and did not disappoint. The hour and a half seated time was perfect as we did not intend to have dessert. Friendly staff and good service. Definitely going back.

We booked a table of 11 for a joint birthday party. We were made to feel so welcome and they accommodated our guests extra requests with style and grace (wheelchair/allergies/gluten free) The guests commented it was one of the nicest Asian meals they had ever had. They were kind enough to let us bring our own birthday cake (with cakeage fee) and served it while singing happy birthday. Thankyou for a really special family night. After not seeing much of each other with Covid, it was a special night to remember.

Probably the most original and tasty Thai food I have had in ages. Particularly the curry was one of the best I have had in ages. I think their pad Thai was also a brilliant reinterpretation of the dish. The deserts were tasty and pretty to look at. Great place for a date night, although not many vego options.

Really good food, really good service! Probably the nicest meal I have had in Coogee. Pad Thai and Crispy Chicken were great.

What can i say. " an explosion of taste" hard to pick a favourite on the tasting menu. Amazing food. Warning tho to people who book to sit outside the chairs or should i say "stools" are so uncomfortable cheap and nasty. Not what you would expect at a restaurant where you are paying average 100-150 pp for dinner.
