Would give negative star if there’s such an option. Used to be a loyal customer here for almost 10years, but disappointing would be an understatement to describe our recent visit on Eastern Sunday . The Melbourne Boiled dumpling (aka the seafood n chicken dumplings) were over cooked and the fillings were not very fresh. Me and my friend only had 4 dumplings and asked if they could change the rest to the pork. Because the dumplings were too soft to be picked as a whole. It broke into pieces immediately after we pick it with chopsticks. A male server took away our dumplings (there were 8 dumplings left) said there’s no problem with the dumplings, and refused to serve us another serve, nor did he gave us back those dumplings. Later when we checked out they charged us full price of everything. And when I asked how about the Melbourne dumplings which were taken away by them, the same male server responded said there’s no issue with the dumplings and he can’t do anything. As a regular customer here who always order this item I’m 100% sure there’s something wrong with the dumplings. And the way the male server handled customer complain were absolutely unacceptable. All female server there were very friendly and nice, for the male server with black t shirt and glasses, if you are the manager, just let you know we will file report to ACCC, Melbourne city Council, as well as DHHS Victoria. We will also write review in other platforms to let people know about our unforgettable experience here, hope you enjoy and get ready for the coming inspections from the food safety unit.
Got the signature mackerel boiled dumplings. So fresh and soft. Some of the best dumplings I’ve ever had. Take me back. 10/10
Been coming here for the home cooked style of dumplings in the heart of the oldest China town in the world for years. It's always consistent, always busy and always open. Comfort food for 2021 and beyond!
The best Chinese dumping restaurant i have ever had! The fresh ingredient, delicious dumplings, friendly and warm service. Everything here in Shandong Mama gives me a remarkable memory. It deserve everyone to have a try here!
Noodles overcooked soft like hell, marked in Chinese as “brisket noodles” but actually sliced shank. Nobody explained this when I ordered. Beef was cold and soup has no flavor. If you don’t have the ability to make it right then don’t put it on the menu. Dumplings are normal, bowls full if dishwasher waste water smell. $58 for 2 people. Ruined our mood for all day. Please avoid, don’t waste your money and time.
The BEST dumpling house in Melbourne! The menu has wonderful choices, steamed or fried with outstanding quality and flavour. I've visited since MaMa first arrived from Shandong and opened her door - never disappointed!
What a pleasant surprise, Superb Squid Dumplings can't wait to try the mackeral next time, tofu treated with respect and yummy sticky eegplant. Great energetic atmosphere. Will definitely return to try all of the ' mother in law's dishes '
Ok food. Not what I expected though. The potstickers I used to eat have smaller size which make it easy to eat. This one, the meat always fall apart from the skin. The sauce was chilli oil and vinegar only. Where is the garlic?
Shandong GUO TIE (panfried pot sticker dumpling) is something we eat all the time growing up. So i was very excited to try their Guo Tie. The pork and cabbage pot sticker is really delicious. Very juicy filling with crispy wrapping. But I don't like the dry noodle with soybean paste and pork mince. It taste terrible. I will definitely coming back for the Guo Tie
No joke, top top stuff. The mackerel dumplings will send you to another moment you never knew you needed to be in. The customer service was incredible and I’ll be recommending this place to all my mates. Take me to church (Shan Dong Mama)
