Ichi Ni Nana

My favourite restaurant of all time!! Will always continue to come back and reccomend people to come here! Food is a 10/10, Venue is great, and staff are friendly. Overpriced, low quality, slow service, unhappy waiter with an attitude. Came here for my cousins birthday but the wait in between each dish it took about 15-20 mins. Lamb was raw, beef was chewy. The meal wasn’t fulfilling, we were full from waiting. $160 for the ‘big’ platter, but there was not much on the plate. Not really great if you’re after value. This place is not the same as it used to be unfortunately.

Service was great, dumplings were good, however it doesn’t stack up to other Japanese offerings in Melbourne. Lacking of flavour.

Nice food but extremely packed and noisy. Sensory overload to the point I probably won’t go back unless I’m seated outside.

Delicious food! The small dishes were surprisingly filling and the produce used was high quality, all dishes were packed with flavour. & designated drivers - fear not ! the mocktails are super refreshing and delicious. The atmosphere was packed in a cosy cool vibe with a lovely interior design that made it seem like you have some landed in Japan (or at least what you think it might be like.)

We did the $65 set banquet for 18 people. I had spoken with the organiser multiple times leading up to the night and had mentioned about my partner's (birthday boy) dietary requirements. I had the impression that he would have been looked after on the night, only to find out that I had paid $65 for his meal to be served skewers all night, which included a skewer made up of 3 of the tiniest slices of zucchini. Feedback to the staff who served our group, they were not briefed and were unprofessional, serving food at one end of the table for us to distribute amongst ourselves. The service was extremely slow, and the food did not come out fresh. The sushi rolls which we received, the rice was hard. We ended up having to take away the last 2 meals cause everyone had already filled up on drinks while waiting for the food. As we ordered from a set menu, I would have expected that the kitchen would have been more prepared. We spend $2000 for a below average dining experience. To top it all off, I emailed the organiser after the night only to receive a very generic email response. We have really enjoyed the food at Ichi Ni Nana in the past, shame to see the quality has really dropped.

Food was alright though not noteworthy considering the price. The most striking aspect of the experience was the temperature in the room! They crank the air-condition up HIGH, so don't wear shorts or t-shirts and perhaps even bring a coat if you stay for dinner.

Went to the restaurant with my friends, the service was slow. Especially the edamame, this came last (how long does it take to prepare beans?) Food was fine. At the end of the night, we were shocked to discover we had been charged $17 for TWO bottles of STILL WATER. Absolutely outrageous. We asked for still water and the brought out regular tap water in a glass bottle. Very deceptive. When we complained to the waitress, she only removed one bottle of water from the bill. What’s next? Will they be charging us for the oxygen we breathe or for using the toilets.

Great place and atmosphere, food very good and staff very friendly but price point a little disappointing for the amount you get. I'll be coming back, but more for a special occasion rather than a regular casual visit.

We went to Ichi Ni Nana on the first day of the New Year and were impressed with the settings and the ambience of the place. Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. We ordered the Ichi Ni Nana large platter of sushi ($160 as shown in photo below) and many other smaller dishes. They all taste great - however price points can be improved to boost value for money. Other than that, a good experience.
