The last bastion of awesome Hongky food in Chatswood with Victoria restaurant gone. My go to is minced beef on plain rice with egg, any congee with egg (again), steamed sticky rice with meat and herbs filling, chicken Maryland with gravy mushrooms and spaghetti 🍝, I could go on and on. This place is good for quick dine in, be quick as turnovers for next customers are fast.

I have eaten at this place over 10 times and find it to be a very cost effective way to try Chinese/ HK dishes. The menu is quite expansive and huge variety (everything from dessert, hot pot, stir fried, braised and even steak). The service is not great but passable, and many of their dishes can imitate the flavour (not taste of course, given the price) of restaurant dishes. Dishes all ranging from $8.2-$10 with large serving sizes - yes please! For its price, it’s definitely a 5/5 for me.

The food, although hot right out of the wok, is average at best. We ordered 6 dishes (not shown in the pics, the honey fried prawns) and I only really enjoyed 2 of them, the fried pepper pork chops and the braised eggplant. Those were actually really good, the eggplant went down well with white rice and the fried pork chops were well seasoned and crispy. The rest of the dishes, especially the sizzling "hot" plate, left a lot to be desired. The hot plate was not heated enough to induce the desired sizzle sound so that was a little disappointing (a bit childish I know, but as the saying goes, we eat with our ears first). No worries, I can look past that if it tasted good... It tasted meh. The sauce was too sweet, overpowering the ingredients (was only onions and meat, but never underestimate the power of a nice fresh onion) and the beef was on the tougher side. Hot tea is provided in a thermos, and as always is pleasant to have with this type of food (actually hot tea goes well with a lot of things). On a side note, we arrived at a time when it was not too busy, indicated by Google reviews, so service was actually fine. It would have been nice if they provided us with an English menu that also included pictures. I didn't bother to ask for one but I would assume they have one. Food is cheap, but not significantly less so than surrounding restaurants, you're still looking at around $15-20 per person if you're eating out in a group and ordering many dishes. It's a lot cheaper if you only order a single dish. Otherwise food is fine, if a bit mediocre at times. Might come back again to try more of their menu.

Never disappoints. Great food, value and service. Best beef and chicken fried rice for the kids... Highly recommend the salt and pepper pork chop. Most dishes under 10 bucks!

I've been a long standing customer for years and recommended the place to friends and family alike. However, unfortunately over the weekend I had an unpleasant experience where my partner and I were STILL eating and the male staff member at the front counter handed our bill in a very aggressive manner. Apparently there is a rule that you're not allowed to sit at the restaurant for more than 30 minutes despite no sign indicating this rule at the front door. Even though he could clearly see that we were still eating he demanded we pay first at the counter and leave as soon as possible (almost immediately). Bear in mind there was no massive queue at the front door and it wasn't even rush hour for lunch, around 12:15pm-ish. Even when I went up to pay, the male staff member at the front counter accepted my cash with a very arrogant attitude and slammed my change despite being a customer for years. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that this person had the audacity to rush a customer WHILST they were still consuming their food and also make up a rule which made no sense at all. Needless to say I will no longer be coming back to this establishment. If I could give 0 stars I would. Your food may be cheap and reasonable but customer service gets new and existing customers back for more.
