Heartswood is the first venue for Matt Binney and partner Bianca. Situated in the old Colonial Bank building in Yarra Glen, the desire was to create something relaxed yet refined for the local community. Formerly the Head Chef at Merricote (now closed) in Northcote, Matt seeks to create a venue that embraces the exceptional produce of the Yarra Valley. “We want Heartswood to feel like you’re at a friend’s place, albeit one that has great coffee, booze and is handy in the kitchen” The ethos is simple; it has to be delicious. With a focus on refined, upmarket brunch during the day with coffee by Dukes Coffee Roasters. The kitchen will work closely with local producers to highlight the wonderful ingredients the Yarra Valley has to offer.
