The broth of the signature ramen was too think, and a bid oily, it taste good at the first , but after you had a bit more , you’ll feel greasy . The gyoza is very juicy and crispy on the outside, recommended

What kind of experience? I don't know how to describe it, went there with my friends, the ramen didn't taste as good as before, and also we wait our ramen for half an hour. After we just finished, around 5 minutes, the waitress came three times in five minutes to ask us to leave with a unfriendly tone, and we felt like we were being urged to finish eating and go, it’s so rude!!

Love Hakata Gensuke on Russell Street? What if I told you you can get the same taste and almost identical quality without the queue? Skip those long lines. Your ramen has been sorted. I've provided the menu as a basic guide to the pricing. I've dined here twice and would definitely come again if I was short for time. The only thing I don't like about the restaurant is how everything is cramped, not very spacious and does not feel warm or welcoming. You won't feel comfortable conversing with friends and family. It's better for a quick fix.

Really Good food. Inconsistent service. Discrimination on service faced. Bitter truth.

It's not often that I give 5 stars to places I've been to, but this place is one of the few that deserve it. It's been my go to for many years after working in the city and I've never been let down. Do realise these are my subjective opinions--I've invited many people to eat here, and whilst some people are loving it, others find it as nothing special, and of course they're entitled to their opinions as well. The base of their soup, the "tonkotsu" is typically made of pork. What differentiates this location with, let's say, their other flagship stores, is that this store is pork-free. Making it safe for those that have diets that don't allow pork for religious or personal reasons, which is a huge bonus, because it tastes just as good as the pork-base counterpart. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, many restaurants have been required to undertake certain protocols and change their SOPs to keep the workers and customers safe, and Hakata Gensuke* is one place that excels at ensuring everyone's safety. Waiters/waitresses ensuring all customers check-in before entering store, including EASI/UBER EATS drivers, and when you step in, no longer taking orders from the front counter, you make your orders from scanning a QR code on your table which minimise contact with others as much as possible, which is desired considering the small spaces and tight walkways at the restaurant. Do need to mention the prices are much higher than other nearby ramen restaurants, but HG* has their "Happy Hour" that runs Mon-Fri from 3-5PM which blows it all out the water. Overall, hugely impressed in almost all accounts. Hard to think of any negative points when every visit you've had has been a good one.

Hataka Gensuke is my personal favourite ramen in Melbourne. The soup has balance of every tastes based on Japanese "just enough" philosophy, the chef cooking manner is meticulous, the staffs' greeting is energetic and respectful. These above distinctive aspects have made this ramen shop so unique.

Love the chicken ramen here! The soup here is always consistently full of flavour and the noodles are cooked to perfection. Only issue I have is that the chicken is inconsistent, it can sometimes be cooked perfectly and sometimes completely overcooked. That being said, the soup and noodles are enough for me to be satisfied and keep me as a regular.

The broth is amazing and noodles are cooked to perfection! Love that they also use chicken here instead of the typical pork. Tastes healthy but sooo flavoursome.

Best ramen I've ever had in Australia by far. Customer service is excellent. What's not to like about this place? Would recommend it to others 100%
