Sydney Fish Markets Bank Street, Pyrmont 2009, Sydney
Great attraction, worth a visit. Nice seafood to buy. places here cook well, but not fantastic.
Pros - sushi donuts & nori tacos are done perfectly. Donuts really balanced & held together well. The shell of the nori tacos tastes amazing & holds it shape throughout. Cons- lobster is over cooked, sadly. Seems an easy thing to get right for a seafood place. Would have been 5 stars if we didnβt have the lobster. Worth a look for the sushi donuts & nori tacos, Iβll be back for those.
The place was absolutely bustling when my brother and I visited. You can only just hear the staff above the throng as it's so loud. It was unclear that you get chips with most of the fish meals, but this was eventually sorted out. I had the Gem Fish (came with chips) and it was $12, not too bad. I'd expected much more expensive. Good portion size. It was delicious fish and the chips were seasoned reasonably well. They also sell these Sushi Donuts which I assume are more for the Instagram-worthy image appeal, as they're colourful and do look impressive, but cost $8 each. There's a lot of options at the Sydney Fish Markets in regard to meals right there and then, and I'd probably go back to this place again.
7/10 Chilli Ponzu Oysters combo are fine to me, balanced not too overpowering. Plenty of stuff to choose from.
A fairly simple offering. However, I've had some great coffee at times from this Cafe. A little bit inconsistent but ok.
Loved the fried calamari, white baits, and bbq squids and abalones. Although they're not cheap, small serves of the above plus gem fish and chips they came to $75!
There is no meat in the lobster, only full of cheese. I was cheated and very angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The octopus is too cooked and the meat is very hard! The fish is dry again! What weird thing did I eat! ? tooooooooooooooo angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had very nice lobster and oysters. I don't understand why the other reviewers are so negative.
The food is too eye-catching, there are too many styles, and I can't eat those many big platters, so I only ordered 2 skewers and 3 scallops. The shrimps are very fresh and refreshing. The scallops are so strange that there is rice underneath. , But the taste is ok. In addition, I bought 12 Tasmanian oysters outside, which are much better than Sydney rocks.
I chose this place because it was the busiest at the fishmarket. I asked for the 1/2 laboster, ships and salad. Didn't check when I received what I ordered and left. For my desapointment the lobster was so small and full of melted cheese plus I didn't find the salad. But instead there was a small piece of lemon. My question... is the small piece of lemon the salad?
