Eatery & Cellar Door at Balgownie Estate

TL;DR Overpriced and under-done. Do the cellar door tasting instead. Long version: At $74 for three small courses I was expecting better quality and service. The only great things we had were the pavlova and the estate pinot noir. The pumpkin tart entree, crispy pork belly, and spiced creme brulee were good (but not great). My friend was unimpressed with the oysters, they weren't bad, but they weren't as good as oysters they'd had at multiple inner city bars and restaurants. The beetroot risotto was nice but lukewarm. When trying to get the attention of waiters/waitresses were felt like we were invisible.

This is my second visit here and food is still as good. Lovely atmosphere with great views overlooking the vineyard.

Brilliant Experience of gourmet dining. Today 8 of my close friends gathered and shared the Summer Menu, a three course meal. Friends have been meeting for 40 years , coming from as far away as Sandringham and each said every course was amazing. "Even best meal ever". Thankyou Alyce who waited on us so well. The staff were so amazing here - really friendly & attentive. & the food, just incredible!! Our little family group of 4 had an amazing meal with a perfect view to match!

Great view of the open fieldy, quality of food is reasonable for its price. Wine list is exclusively own produce, except for the sautern dessert wine, which is probably the best one on the list.

Superb food, superb service. Amazing views. Great vibe. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Breakfast was only OK but that's usual with buffets. I think a table service breakfast would be way better. The Place is too classy for a buffet.

I cannot explain how amazing Balgownie is! I have my wedding there, and the food was of good quality and look amazing that my guests were all very pleased and full! All the staff were very professional and attentive. The resort is just amazing. Thank you so much for taking good care of me, my family and our guests!
