Pricey but authentic. Extensive menu of Hotpot ingredients including all the traditional offal options. A great place for birthday or anniversary celebrations, book ahead.

I never had a hot pot before, but my Chinese friends said I would never forget it. And were they right!!! You cook great cuts of beef, pork, vegetables etc. in wonderful boiling sauces in the center of your table (we chose fish, mushroom, tomato, and a spicy hot pepper). You also prepare your own dipping sauces to dip the pieces of your food before eating. The results are spectacular, especially when you like spicy food (which I do) accompanied by ice-cola (which tastes even better over here!). One of the best dining experiences I've had on this trip to Shanghai and its neighboring cities. And don't feel like you need to know what you're doing as the this place is very, very well managed and the waitstaff are friendly and incredibly helpful. They are very upbeat and really want you to have a great dining experience. Just tell them that you've never done this before and they'll guide you every step of the way. So far it's been the high point of this trip to the Middle Kingdom.

Best hotpot in Melbourne by far. Good range of meats and vegetables. Speaking mandarin will help you immensely or else go with mandarin speaking friends. Good range of sides as well. Staff efficient and unobtrusive which was perfect for three friends catching up after a long time.
