498 William Street, Highgate 6003, Perth
I was wandering around Hyde Park when I saw these people walking over with coffee and what looked like toasted sandwiches -perfect. I noticed Chu Bakery across the road. I almost got turned off by the queue, sooo glad I wasn't. The queue moved quickly. Inside was a combination Bakery and take-away cafe. The last Continental roll went just before me - no problem, they took one of the other baguettes and filled it with the meat and salad to make a bespoke one for me. It was well stuffed and an excellent baguette crusty outside, fluffy inside. The decaf iced latte was just as i like it. But it was the cake that was truly amazing. In the window were three types that all looked good. I went for the coconut lime. OMG. I've eaten a LOT of lemon, lime, or passionfruit curd cakes - with and without meringue. This was another level. Firstly presentation. Individual tarts with a small amount of soft meringue around the outside with (good flakes?) Decoration. The middle was something else white. Then the bite. The base was perfect - crunchy, tasty, not too much. The lime curd was deliciously sour. Complimented by the coconut (cream?) topping and meringue. I have found my new favourite cake and my trousers and belts are very thankful I live far enough way it's unlikely to be a daily occurrence...
Fab little corner bakery. Lots of delish fresh baked treats and breads, toasties and crusty rolls pop in grab some snacks then sit in Hyde Park opposite and soak up the serenity.
The best croissant and chocolate eclair. We had try many different types of bread. The croissant wasn’t warm still so delicious. If Warm up I’m pretty sure this is much delicious. And I had a chocolate eclair which is $5.50 cheap price but it is much better than other bakery in Australia. I had an expensive eclair when I travel in Melbourne and that was $11.50 but this eclair is much delicious !!! They bake absolutely amazing and love their organic breads. My favourite place !!
Finally been to Chu bakery, bought tarts and coffee. They were very nice
FINALLY!! The best bread we’ve found, with a proper crusty crust! We only had a sandwich, as the loaves were all sold out, so we will come earlier next time! Love the Dukes coffee, and the pastries are perfection. Somebody here really knows their stuff!!
Why people like this place? You better try. Every bite I have was so great!
Love the jam donnut, however my large cap was the highlight of my vist. One of the best coffee's in perth hands down. Right layer of foam and it had a very pleasent smooth texture. Would recommend stopping by if your in the area.
Although I try my hardest, I can never drive past Chu. The bread is absolutely phenomenal and the pastries out of this world. I could list everything I like at Chu but it'd be everything on the menu
Nice coffee and top quality almond crossaint. It's a shame I don't live locally... Would love to try their bread.
Very good bakery for takeaway. Everything just delicious and fresh. Amazing location near the Hyde Park. Staff very friendly.
