I had shrimp laksa and it was really good.
We came at 8:50 - we didn't realise China Plate closed at 9:00. The lovely owners didn't tell us kitchen was closed, instead they served us the best Chinese food we've had in ages. The dumplings were especially delicious. It was only when we walked out we realised we'd come at closing time, when the owners would have been well within their rights to tell us to come back another day. Thanks so much for the fantastic food!
Absolutely the best value Asian restaurant in Canberra and equal among three in quality. Great food, excellent hosts who always remember you and your preferences, and always tell you if a particular dish is not advised that night because the best ingredients aren't available. Never had a poor meal or less than excellent experience. And frequented by both the prominent in Sitting Weeks, and locals.
These people are lovely and wonderful. Great food backed up with them being attentive and accommodating. They are always confident with gluten free dishes, and remember me even if it's six months between visits. Relaxed, warm, and friendly.
The food was good albeit a bit pricey. The Wasabi Steak was very tender but $28 was too expensive for the surprisingly small portion of only meat. The lady serving tables needs some training in customer service. She was abrupt and pretty inhospitable. She over charged me and when I questioned it she was quite rude. Probably wouldn't return!!
Went here on a whim. Classic family owned, old school Chinese restaurant vibe and honestly the best chilli beef I've ever had.
Itβs been a while since my last visit. Went last night lunar new year. Wow sensational just sensational. Duck pancakes, a variety of dumplings hot pot lamb to name but a few dishes. My mate called me this morning raving about the food. Well done China Plate.
The food was really delicious but the owner who was serving us was very cranky and rude. The portions for the prices were also disappointing. When the owner asked me how my meal was I told her that I thought it was delicious but questioned the portion sizes for the price. I was confronted with hostility and further rudeness.
We just found the best Asian restaurant in town by accident. We loved the Wasabi Beef and the prawns and the dumplings were amazing. ..the salt and pepper squid was so tender and tasty....Amy and team accommodated us so well at such short notice...we will be back every time we visit Canberra for sure.π
The portion of the food is very small and the food was not tasty. We booked table for six last night and this was the worse food we have ever eaten. The lady serving us was rude, I will not recommend anyone to this restaurant. Poor service.
