Service was great, the staff were super friendly and accommodating. We had the tasting menu and were particularly impressed by the main dishes: the suckling pig and lamb. They were very tasty, tender and juicy. I was also a big fan of the sangria!

We thought going by photos, menu and the prices that this was fine dining - it is not fine dining. Brightly lit, a dull buzzing noise from the lights above our table and no table cloths make for a neat casual dinner. I had the tomahawk steak ($120) which sounds like a lot but you get two sides so would easily do two people for a nice dinner. Nobody’s steak on our table was cooked perfectly but all were okay, the service was not polished; had to wait a long time for the table to be cleared while staff milled around, the waitress serving us had a very limited idea of what drinks were available, was not particularly attentive but was friendly and helpful when asked. The wine list is extensive, the food came fairly quickly and the service was friendly. If you’re chasing a great steak in Canberra, I would not recommend Black Fire but if you’re happy with “okay” then you won’t be disappointed. This was my second trip to Black Fire and both experiences have been similar.

We were recommended this place as a foodies go to place. The menu was very enticing and had a large variety of dishes. Their tapas were great and reminded us of Barcelona. Unfortunately their service could be a little bit warmer - given the price range although the food was great the expectation on the waiters was higher. They did their job and that is about it.

Not the first time I've been and surely not the last. Absolutely delicious on all courses. Cannot fault in any way. Food cooked to perfection. Taste is packed with flavour. The staff were also extremely attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

We have been to this restaurant on 4 occasions, it was one of our favourite places to go for birthdays. Unfortunately the last couple of visits have been disappointing for an expensive place to dine. The staff are friendly but the service was poor. We ended up with 12 wine glasses on our table for 4 guests as our table was not cleared the entire 2 hour period we were there. The food was of average standard for the calibre of this restaurant. We had the tasting menu, it was all beautifully presented but was very quick, we didn't have time to sit and enjoy the flavours before the next dish was placed on the table. The pork and lamb were tasty but sitting in too much juice,. Hopefully Black Fire picks up its game as a the new steak restaurant in town is giving it some stiff competition.

I don't like red meat but the steak here was divine (tried a piece of one of my friends) the suckling pig was absolutely tender and melt in the mouth delicious. And the pork belly! I dont think I have had pork belly that could just be cut through with a fork but this place managed that. Oh and if you love good crackling on your pork, this is the place to go! I will be back again!

Overall experience was average. The king prawn entree was great. It was clear to us the slow cooked lamb was precooked, refrigerated and probably microwaved before serving . The lamb came out luke-warm with hard fat dispersed through the cold juices - very disappointing for a $40 dish.. My partner had the seafood dish. Lovely presentation with great sauce. but the overcooked fish and mussels let this dish down. The staff were knowledgeable and pleasant, though lighting was very bright. Relatively cold decor, okay for a large group gathering but definitely not recommended for intimate dinners. Will we come back? Not anytime soon.

Disappointed to be honest. I was expecting a meat feast and I got a decent experience but have had much better ribeye in other places. Croquette wasn’t what I expected, not Spanish for sure. Meat was tougher and stringier then I would have liked. Brocollini and spinach was the highlight which shows the quality. Might try the suckling pig next time (if I come back...)

A good steak with average service. It was very hard to get the attention of wait staff while made the meal a little less special.

I was in Canberra for the night and I came across Black Fire Restaurant. Upon viewing the menu I went with the tomahawk black angus steak. Absolutely amazing, was prepared well and cooked to my liking with beautiful flavors. The red wine jus just added another element. The two sides that came with my meal were simple with plenty of flavor. The staff were great, great service and friendly staff. Would highly recommend Black Fire if your in Canberra. Look forward to dining there again next time I’m in Canberra.
