Interior is large and open, making for a great beer garden feel. The meals are generously sized and it's hearty German fare. There's no surprises but in a cold Canberra winter, sometimes that's exactly what you want. Bring both your hunger and thirst, because the drinks are also enormous!

Great food and a very good atmosphere. You get exactly the ambience you're looking for in a pub. Order the vodka shots to feel special 😁😁 Chicken schnitzel was totally awesome... and the mushroom soup. Hot sauce is how it should be, very hot

Highly recommended!! Had the greatest night there! The staff were outstanding. Super friendly and attentive, the meals were spot on! So generous and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was great. HUGE shout out to Benjamin who went out of his way to look after us all night. Made us feel like absolute royalty! Thanks mate!!

Ordered 2 of the 'jager' Chicken Schnitzel for delivery via Uber Eats. Despite the temperature of the food (cold) being the fault of the 25 minute trip the driver took the food on (I live 6 minutes from woden), the food was sub-standard at best. One schnitzel was ok, but the other was nearly 1/2 smaller than the other and was overcooked and skinny. To the point where an inch or so from the outside toward the center was burnt and rock hard crumb only. On top of this, they were only ordered with chips and the chips portions would have been less than a small. I took a photo and can actually count the cold, chips. 26 individual chips. When some of those are no more than an inch long, I'm sure you can understand that a shrivelled, burnt schnitzel with half a portion of chips doesn't really meet a customer's expectations. This place used to be really good but now it's just a rort when it comes to quality and price. Wouldn't recommend.

Located at the east end of Westfield Woden mall opposite Hoyts cinema, the Barvarian is a large German pub style restaurant that has a large bar at one end and with plenty of picnic style tables throughout that caters well for large groups. There is seating inside and out, as well as a few small round tables for a more intimate seating arrangement. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. you can order from the menu via QR code or call over the staff who are happy to take your order, or even order at the bar. Note that there is a venu charge and credit card surcharge when ordering online. There are lots of typical German delights available including pork knuckle, pork belly, schnitzels, burgers and many wursts (German sausages), mainly served with potato mash and sauerkraut. You can even go for all of the meats on offer. There is still a variety of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu including a plant based schnitzel and a vegan burger, as well as several salads. The pretzels are great also. There is a large drinks menu, that includes flavoured German beers, cocktails, schnapps, mocktails, soft drinks and juices. Staff are happy to take bookings and store cakes in the fridge for your gathering, and will even play happy birthday on the sound system when they bring the cake out. There's no cakeage fee either. There is plenty of parking next to the Barvarian restaurant as it's located in the carpark complex. It's free on Saturday evenings.

Service was excellent. Food was good. Beer n wine cold n delicious.

The food is pretty good. The ploughman's board comes with a very fresh and warm rye bread roll and a nice variety of cold selections. Schnitzel got good reviews from my dinner partners. Cricket was on the big screens. It feels like somewhere to come with your mates to focus on sinking some steins more than for the food and atmosphere.

Came in for lunch on the 07/01, place was quite busy, however, the food came out reasonably quick and was well priced. The waitress did her best and was lovely to our family, making our experience enjoyable. There were a couple extra surcharges however when going to pay up at the bar, which is unfortunate, but we still enjoy the place.

Service was a little slow but polite. Food was excellent. Good portion sizes. Will go back again. Last nights dinner was okay but mushroom gravy had little flavour

Food was great. Service excellent. Not into yodelling much. Drink and food prices reasonable. Loved the coleslaw Nd ribs beautifully cooked.
