Mr Gelato by Matteo

We looked for a late night gelato place for the kids and decided to try this place. the gelato is bland, seems to be mixed with powder and water. The ricotta cheesecake in the display fridge was old. Disgusting. Won’t be back.

The coffee I had wasn't that good, it was wayyy to weak and flat. But the gelato and cakes are a must have!

Very good ice cream and friendly service but the portions are ridiculously small. The cup is much smaller than at most other icecreameries but then you discover that the bottom of the cup is covertly raised so the cup is only about 70% of what it looks like on the outside. Modern day light robbery. I felt ripped of paying $6.50 for that. Not going back.

Very hard to find a great coffee in the area and came here on a recommendation and did not disappoint. The home made ice-cream is also amazing, some of my favourites include pistachio and the Hazelnut! Best Ice-cream and coffee around.

Had a lovely lunch here! Great coffee and food, the service was fantastic, lovely atmosphere and amazing gelato, can’t fault at all! I will be back!

My partner and I decided on a late night icecream and looked up where to go locally. We got to this place half an hour before closing. We stood at the counter while the girl on the till packed up the ice creams and blatantly ignored us (the store is not big - pretty hard to miss someone standing at the counter). We waited for a good few minutes until she was done pulling all of the icecreams out of the fridge to even bother looking at us. I asked her “Are you guys open or…?” And she looked at me and flatly said “yeah”. My partner and I looked at eachother and walked out. We understand it was the end of the night. But with half an hour to go. And to get attitude from a teenager over icecream. We’d rather go without.

Great gelato shop with a wide choice of flavours and friendly service. A taste of Italy in the middle of Freshwater. The afogatos are great as well. Highly recommended.

What can I say the absolute best coffee on the Northern Beaches, The only place in Freshwater and surrounds for the perfect Latte, and as for the selection of fantastic Italian treats...... why travel across the harbour the best is here

Mr Gelato by Matteo is not just a normal ice-cream shop.. is a special meeting point that has become a Little Italy in the heart of Freshwater! Matteo costumer service goes above and beyond, a true hospitality champion!
