The Chicken Shop

Pretty poor presentation, boxes and cartons shoved all round the store and walls and windows look filthy. The chicken sadly is below par. The batter is a horrible yellow colour and drenched in oil. The staff are at times on auto pilot and they can barely speak English.

Yesterday I tried to buy a 1/2 chicken meal at 12pm. The lady serving told me they had sold out of chicken and only had a 1/4 left. Considering the place titles itself 'the chicken shop' I found it amazing they didn't have chickens for sale at lunchtime. Avoid.

Great local fried chicken.

Tasted good today but I'm stuck in house throwing all the food i ate. Avoid this place unless u have stomach thats used to oily food

Great burgers, good chicken. Chips need a little more salt - we even asked for extra.

Regular favourite place to eat. Beef and cheese burger in a combo is great value for money - sooo many chips! Can recommend eating here for the burgers and chips, they’re delicious.

Always good and quick service and the price is value for money

Have been many times over the years, most recently I felt like the quality had dropped; the portions had reduced and it wasn’t good value for what you paid. Additionally, the guy that served me was pretty rude. Chicken is ok, chips are good but there better value out there, better food and nicer people.

It's the takeaway from your childhood. Even when you don't feel like chips, you'll eat one, then go on to finish the packet. There might be better chips somewhere in Canberra, but I haven't found them. Eat them hot and fresh. There's some stools to sit and wait for your order. It's comfortable. Chicken is good, better than Red Rooster, Kingsleys etc.
