Tarkine Fresh Oysters

Enormous and Fresh! We ordered 2 half dozen samplers. One sampler were cold and fresh with the variety of tomato salsa, smoked salmon, and cucumber topping. One sampler was hot and cooked with the variety of a panko Rocky Point, bacon Kilpatrick, and a chilli bacon. Both sets were delicious! Our son liked the panko, I loved the fresh with the tomato salsa, and my husband happily ate the bacon infused ones. Couldn’t leave Smithton without trying the famous Tarkine Fresh Oysters!

Great service .. very friendly .. but most importantly great oysters done with 13 different flavours/ways. Highly recommend the tasting plate absolutely scrumptious. If you like oysters you will love this little gem of a place.

Fantastic seafood chowder ！

On the harbour at Smithton, a little Cafe selling oysters fresh, frozen and on a menu. Staff were very helpful and prices very reasonable and really plump and yummy. Bought half a dozen sucked a covered in garlic, sour cream cheese topping ready to cook for $15.

Baked oysters - actual oyster meat was small and all the same size despite of various shell sizes. I got a double oyster (there is no double oyster in nature!) in one shell and it looks like they reuse oyster shells filling it with low grade/imported oysters as when baked with condiments you cannot really taste the difference... I worked selling oysters and I'm afraid it's a second time I encountered this practice. The owner will probably come up with a smart reply but c'mon double oyster?! There is no excuse for that!

Best oysters in Tasmania and Australia. Seriously delicious. So plump and creamy with a true taste of the cleanest ocean water in this realm.

Was told I could not eat in the cafe because I was ordering natural oysters. Then told I could not buy lemon for my oysters order because it's for eat in only. Not even joking.

Quite pricey but food is yummy! Oysters were v fresh and we can opt for combination of fresh and baked version. Clam chowder soup is a must try. The set in this picture costs $25

Went there mid-December 2018 and it is definitely one of the food trail places that must not be missed. It is a small venue but the owner made us so welcomed. The oysters are the freshest we have ever had and you can choose to have it raw or cooked (Rocky Point, Mornay or Kilpatrick). The Rocky Point is unique and a highlight but my favourite was the Kilpatrick.
