230 Coogee Bay Rd 2034, Coogee
The scenery here is so beautiful!
I love food. I love it so much i eat when Iām not even hungry. This is one of the few times where I would have preferred to go hungry
Decent sushi, service is ordinary... I go regularly for a quick lunch but really nothing special. The staff could use some pepping up.
One of the best sushi train restaurants in Sydney
Used to love coming here, always fresh sushi and lots on the train. But after tonight I am done. Hardly anything to choose from. All the sushi ingredients were left on the bench with flies sitting on everything. I ordered a seared beef and they took an old one from the train, reheated it and put more sauce on top. Sushi used a wet/dirty chux cloth to continually wipe his hands on and cross contaminated raw salmon with chicken and tuna. Such a shame as this use to be the best sushi in town.
Yummy food. Always fresh. Bathroom facilities need a freshen up.
Always fresh, always great. Highly recommended 10/10 - edit: I've had a couple of experiences here recently which highlight why some others have left such poor reviews. In my experience they're great 70% of the time but if you catch them on a bad day it's really, really bad. So unfortunate as this is now my local and I loved coming here regularly. Will send them an email outlining my experience.
Don't go here. As soon as I sat down I regretted going in. The plates on the train looked old and stale and there were few options. So, I ordered a soba off the 'recommended menu' to be made fresh and all three staff immediately looked flustered as if they didn't know what to do. I found this concerning enough that I didn't order anything else. This happened with the two other groups of people that came in after me who also ordered things off the menu. Well-frozen product was retrieved, defrosted in a microwave and then deep fried. I can only assume the business changed owners recently because they were acting as though they had wandered in off the street and had been told to run the store with no direction whatsoever. I then noticed that the open kitchen was an unclean mess. One of the three staff members was sitting in the back corner eating next to a big pile of what looked to be the day's worth of dirty bowls and plates. These aren't things you want to see in a restaurant that sells raw fish and seafood. Not to mention, within the current climate as we are working towards emerging from a pandemic.
Unfortunately I was reading other reviews as I was in the restaurant and as per another review saw a fly land on some vegetables being used to prepare sushi! The place generally looked a bit untidy. By this point I'd already eaten some rolls and nigiri - which tasted okay although the rice seemed a bit chewy and there was quite a limited selection of sushi on the conveyor belt, with staff chatting and not checking whether you wanted to order anything. I left after 3 plates... To be fair, you don't expect the best for under $4 a plate, but you don't expect flies crawling in the food.
I had food poisoning twice from the salmon sashimi from this place. Never again.
