South Perth Fish & Chips

The chips were delicious, but I personally think the cost is a bit too high for the portion. A single serve of chips is $3.50 and it paid for slightly more than a large handful. It would make sense if it were a cafe, not sure if it matches a fish and chips portion (3 star rating). UPDATE: came back tonight (2 weeks after above post) and portion size was much better (ordered 2 portion sizes this time - shown in image). Prices are still a bit on the higher side, but somewhat expected with the South Perth location. Chips, as always, were great. (Updated to 5 star rating).

About time the foreshore had a F&C shop as F&C by the river has been a regular event for us in the last 40 years we've lived here. Cheerful friendly service, Food was cooked quickly and well presented. Very generous portions - next time Will be ordering half what we ordered this time. If there was one criticism it's that the fish was lightly over done but the chips and prawns were spot on. Definitely will be making regular visits.

Tried this place on Friday, was very busy but the staff didn't let the quality falter at any point. Actually quite sociable experience, having a yarn outside the fish n chip shop and not too far to the river. Top points for atmosphere, locationand service. The food was great, order a meal for two. I forgot to ask for chicken salt but everything still tasted good. The batter looks to be British inspired and very crispy, the squid is tender without being chewy, just bit oily. This batter works well with the pineapple rings (I substituted the dim sims with pineapple), it would work well as a dessert if some flavoured sugar was sprinkled on or under the batter. Definitely a welcome addition to the local area.

Thought I would give them a try as I thought it was a relatively new business. Chips where cold and terrible. Had the premium fish and the batter was really thick and overcooked . Ordered the calamari as well and thought I was ordering the grilled as displayed on website .my fault it was deep fried and once again very thick batter . I should have ordered grilled . Won’t be going back . Plenty of better places in the area

Fish was great and the staff were lovely! The chips weren't very tasty (good portion though) they were really hot but soggy and not crispy. 5 stars because everything else was great just wanted to give you some feedback!!

Just tried this place today. Woww I have to say their batter is so amazing that can last more than 30min and still very crispy. Very generous serve. Owner am staffs are very friendly! Definitely will be back. Thank you!

Tonight was the 3rd time we turned up there . I believe they serve very generous portions to begin with ,Very polite staff and very clean atmosphere. I personally like non battered fish which is grilled . They serve most types of fish like Baramundi Snapper and all other types .I highly recommend this place to my friends and family . The only downturn I must mention is the quality of prawns .I believe they could get better quality prawns that have better size and better types . Thank you again

Good first impression. Locally caught emperor was delicious with its crispy batter, squid rings were tender. Shop location is great for enjoying some fresh takeaway down by the river. Nice staff.

Ordered four grilled fish and chips, crab sticks, squid rings and dim sims. Great chips but the batter on the squid rings, dim sims and crab stick was way too thick and we ended up pulling most of it off. Fish was ok, not great.

Honestly i wish i could give a zero stars. I was there 4 days ago and i ordered a family feast, the kid working in the till forgot to give my order to the kitchen, so i was waiting for almost a hour for my order. Tonight i decided to go back, and i ordered a family feast again, and all the people after me ordered in the till too and they got the order after 5 minutes. They got the order before me. Of course i was waiting for 45 minutes. I politely asked the lady how much longer i need to wait for my order and she said 5 minutes. So after that 2 seniors customers came checked the menu and ordered with her, and again after 10 minutes they got the order. And i? Nothing still. Honestly i lost ey? I asked to lady where my order was, and of course she checked and i saw her doing my order. That place needs a good management. I will never go back. The fish is too oily anyways. And taste old. Dont waste your time.
