The best Japanese food by Japanese chef in town I reckon. Food are super delicious, been visiting this place many times and never get disappointed. Clean environment, friendly staff. Affordable prices. Many choices of foods. Very busy, you need to book in advance. If you are in Melbourne, is a must to try this out. Is in Glen Waverley.

Bookings required a week ahead! There’s lunch menus for special sets that includes miso soup, small side dishes and a steam egg, or omakase only for dinners. Highly worth it and would like to come back again in the future!

Fantastic Japanese restaurant that serves A Grade sashimi. I ordered a takeaway sashimi bento box which was accompanied by miso soup and chawanmushi (rather than rice). This was very reasonably priced at just $25. Fish was top notch. Miso perfectly flavoured, chawanmushi was textually on point and I really enjoyed the sashimi salad with kingfish, salmon,tuna and white fish . It came with a delicious miso, sesame dressing. It was all together a delectable lunch! I'll be back to try more of their sushi and sashimi offerings!

Only one place to go to when you crave Japanese food and Japanese hospitality. Been in Melbourne for the past 11 years and I can honestly say Shira Nui serves the best Japanese food. The Omakase is out of this world and their lunch specials are just amazing.

This place is an institution. Small and cosy and understated place on Springvale rd. Been amazingly good for years. Lunch specials are good value for authentic high quality Japanese sushi and sashimi and hot food. Omakase for a special occasion. Been coming for years and it’s always good. Highly recommended.

It's been almost two months since I moved near Glenn, but I didn't notice it because I didn't go past this restaurant, but I found it while walking around after thinking about what to eat for lunch today. I visited for the first time, and all the people inside were Japanese. There was only one foreigner, but she could speak Japanese. What I ordered was a yakiniku bento box for $23. I also ordered steamed egg (chawamushi) for $3. It is a typical Japanese bento box. I tried a lot of bento boxes while living here in Australia, and everyone was mixed with fusion according to their respective countries, but this is really Japan. Seaweed salads, which are often found in other bento boxes, are also very special. I'm satisfied with the side dishes. Like other reviews, miso soup was enough to stimulate the appetite. The rice, It's like Japanese fried rice. The rice seems to be lightly seasoned and it contains chopped meat and some vegetables. Japanese-style chawanmushi has eel in it, which adds several times the flavor. It's just what I feel, and I want to tell someone that the food may not be salty, but by my standards it was too perfect. If the lockdown is over and the store is open, I'll go to this store and eat first. Finally, I only talk about food like this, but I'm really glad that the staff welcomed me.
