Me and my wife passed by Samgasat this evening, and we saw a lot of people dine inside the restaurant, so we decide to give a try. We ordered crispy prawn for entree, namtok and roast duck with stir fry cabbage for main course which we have no idea what are those. When the food arrive on the table, we were surprised! All the food are served beautifully l and taste awesome. I would say the menu in Samgasat are totally different with most of Thai restaurant in town. Surely will come back to try another dishes next time. The waiting time relative fast for the entree dishes, but it takes a little bit longer for the main courses. But I totally understand because the restaurant are full seated when we were there. Overall, me and my wife are very satisfied with what we paid for. Samgasat, I will see you again next time! 😊
This review is based on going here a couple of times now. The food overall is great, pushing towards the amazing side. Had the crispy pork which was heaven unfortunately was more of a veggie dish than pork but still very enjoyable and had the whole fried fish our last visit which I highly recommend. Definitely fresh quality ingredients. There is definitely negatives though, service is extremely slow. They sit you down and really won't check back on you if you don't say something. You really need to communicate a lot with the staff if you want anything done. The menu unfortunately doesn't really have a thorough distribution of the dishes, which can be difficult when ordering sides and also there is no alcohol sold on premise, which isn't really the biggest deal so definitely do not forget your drinks. Food is 4 stars, compliments to the chef. Unfortunately service is 2 stars. I would recommend this place to friends.
The $4.00 per person corkage was a real downer. We were a party of six so $24 was slapped on the bill. Didn’t like sitting on tin stools, very uncomfortable, although they did replace two stool with chairs for our two seniors. The food was average with very small portions. The crab and chicken dish was inundated with coriander. Couldn’t taste anything else! The beef curry was tough and the mixed entrees were over cooked and tasteless. Definitely won’t recommend this restaurant to anyone (well, people we like anyway)
If you’re looking for fresh, authentic, flavoursome Thai look no further, but seriously treat yourself it’s amazing.
Matt was a great waiter. Good recommendations and he made us laugh Prompt service Good price Nice environment Matt. My good sir. I take my hat off to you.
The fish was one of the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommend Samgasat for authentic and delicious Thai food
Surprise hit of the summer. Hands down best fish cakes ever. Great food, quick and friendly service. 100% bring the family - very affordable.
This Thai restaurant was ok for a family of 4 for a quick dinner. Middle of the road in price range. Dishes came with nice crunchy fresh vegetables. The starters though were very bland and the sauces were extremely sweet and didn't have much depth in flavour. The rice was cooked nicely, but the main dishes were quite repetitive. We ordered 3 mains including the beef, pork and chicken. The beef and pork dishes cane with the same vegetables in them and an almost same sauce. The chicken was served plain by itself. The lights were very bright and little or no ambience or music. The byo alcohol is always a good option to save money. Overall would rate experience as ok, but doesn't inspire me to return for any reason. Although, beats a fast food joint!
This place is by far the best Thai in Cairns. The service is good and the quality of the food is unmatched. I've been several times now and it hasn't let me down.
Fantastic meal. Thoroughly enjoyed! Only gripe was that the floor seemed oily to walk on.
