Dry aged steaks, delicious sides and Balter XPA on tap, nice reinvention of a classic old pub

I came here with the family a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the tidy renovations the venue had undergone. While ordering my lamb I noticed their dry aging fridge with an array of quality cuts from high profile producers at very reasonable prices. I told myself I’d have to come back and get a mammoth steak soon. My lamb that night was fantastic! All fam were happy for me and my order. Unfortunately I’m not a sharer ha I came back last week for my steak. We ordered a 1.1kg rib eye from O’Connors cooked medium. It was grilled spectacular well. Exactly what you would expect for such a high quality cut. Could not have been more pleased with the meal. The staff were all incredibly friendly and happy to have a laugh. They made the whole experience just that much better. Exactly what you want from a local pub where you’d take the family. Well done team!

Went their for lunch today as I have been looking for a decent steak meal. I certainly wasn't disappointed. I had the rib eye and it's the best steak I have had in a long time. The schoolies to start were cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned.My partners rump was also superb. Went back there today for a quick lunch. Service great and the food was excellent. We had fish and chips and a rump steak sandwich with gentlemen's relish.

The Royal has been my go to pub in the Hawkesbury for a few years but the recent renovations and menu changes have made it worthy of 5 stars. The steaks are very good and the specials menus are interesting but the real surprise was the wood fired pizzas, by far the best pizzas in the Hawkesbury. The staff are plentiful and attentive, it's recommended to book a table an weekends if you want a table inside as it can get busy.

Beautiful old public bar at the front, brimming with history and atmosphere. New bistro at the back, well priced meals and good quality. I really enjoy this pub.

Lamb shoulder was for 2. Definitely not for 2, more like a hungry person's meal. Very very salty as well. Other food looked good. Staff were pretty good(4 stars)

I ordered a main of baked cauliflower. It came with red cabbage and fantastic in presentation, colour and flavours. My partner ordered a chicken schnitzel - which was over twice the size of my meal, including chips and slaw. - why should my meal be much smaller at 40% the size of my partners meal? My partner is almost half my size. ~~~~ Why do pubs all like to televise constant Thugby League... and never rock-climbing or white-water kayaking or MTB ? These things are done near to Sydney, too.

Wow, what a great experience of fine food dining , amazing renovation, great atmosphere and most friendly, helpful and happy staff. The food is truly amazing..outdoor area is covered with heaters and entertainment of a blues Band just added to my experience..make this a MUST visit..
