Taking over an old Thai restaurant - what do you do? We’ll they kept the deco and the chairs (?) the vibe is great - the staff are super nice. Food is good and solid. Not the cheapest but a good time was had!
Lovely place for a nice dinner is special occasion. It is a more limited menu- but - it's a case of a few things done really well. Great service, great ambience, lovely food .
We had the best meal here. We had a mix of the vegetarian and meat set menus. The buttermilk fried cauliflower was lit. The asparagus was outrageously good. The roasted beetroot was delicious with the Comte cream. Our friend loved the seared tuna and the Ron's special chicken and the parfait was so smooth. The staff were also so lovely and friendly. We will absolutely eat here again and we will absolutely be drinking the Ron's Spritz again.
Such a delicious experience. Would order every single item on the menu again... Came with a late booking and the team went out of their way to look after us. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back!
beautiful cocktails and wonderful staff - will definitely be coming back!
Quirky little place hidden from the street below. Good menu of sharing plates. Really enjoyed the snapper, pumpkin and the prawns. Full of flavour. Very good wine selection too, rare to see a chilled red on the menu. I don’t think they’ve quite nailed the portion sizes though for different group sizes. We were a 5 and there wasn’t enough of anything really- just a mouthful of each dish. I would go in a group of 3/4 in future.
Delicious, great set menus - protein or veg and the roast chicken is a stand-out
I always worry when i see lots of brown vinyl. Will be old and sticky? Will the dust still be there from the original owners? Will the food be so retro, that it looks as old as the concept? Here at Rons, they're all a hard no. Rons looks like a relic from a 70s Crawford production...but the walls are real, the place is neat as a pin, and the cooking contemporary. The set menu, veg or mixed, has lots of hits, done accessibly, and with skill. The pics aren't mappelthorpe, but they convey the solid skills we enjoyed. However, the photo of the dessert, chocolate parfait, does capture its underwhelming nature. All in all, easy to recommend, great cocktails and service, at a price that works.
Have been meaning to go to this hidde gem for way too long. I’ll leave the decor and location descriptions to others. Let’s talk about the food. Clean, full of flavour, inventive and generous. We had quinoa salad, peppers and anchovies, and pippies for entree. Just great food with lashings of flavour from clever use of herbs and hummus. Couldn’t go past the rotisserie chicken and lamb, and my wife had kingfish. Proteins superbly cooked. Accompaniments of thrice cooked spuds, greens and the standout cabbage punched the dishes with flavour and texture. For simple eating pleasure this is a must. And the wine list is unique, interesting and has orange and organic wines as well well chosen thoughtful list with all thought given to complimenting the food. Simple culinary triumph. Well done Ron.
Nice place that you could easily walk past and never notice. Always busy, so book ahead! Staff are nice, friendly and efficient while the wine and beer choices are solid and the food has great flavours. Found the food comes with a little too much oil for my liking, but apart from that amazing!
