haven’t been back here in a year or two but decided to pop by for their lunch specials~ ordered from the lunch special menu: tonkatsu set, sushi and udon set and the assorted bento set, all came with miso soup, sushi & udon and the bento set also came with japanese fish egg~ from their all day menu we ordered agedashi tofu and their salt and pepper squid. tonkatsu was yummy~ it was a bit on the dry side but you can’t expect anything else really from a tonkatsu~ sushi and udon was pretty good!! sashimi was not the freshest but still nice~ bento set was lovely, a huge arrange of different foods~ tempura was great~ agedashi tofu was a big serving, very worth the price! (four pieces of tofu not three) squid was nice and fresh!! overall a lovely japanese restaurant in runcorn~~

This place was surprisingly delicious their sashimi was super fresh and very detail. The detail they clean the tuna was super good. But expect waiting time for each dish coming out to be slow. Overall this place was good

Nice and fresh sashimi. Great tasting japanese dishes. Better than your average sushi joint, fancy but not quite fine dining.

Met up with two other families from church for a lunch date. Most of us went for the lunch specials, and my family had: * S2 jumbo chirashi set $22.50 * S3 Tonkatsu set (with side dishes) $16.80 * S11 kids set $12.80 Wifey loved her jumbo chirashi set, and thought it was excellent value. It was only $1 more than a kaizen don special she had from another Japanese eatery recently, but this came with more fish and less rice, which suited her preferences to a T. And bonus points for being on the regular menu, so I can see repeated visits for this dish alone. Her meal also came with a chawanmushi My tonkatsu was pretty well executed too, with all the elements working well to provide a balance of textures and flavours. This was the first time I've been served grind-your-own black sesame, so I felt both cultured (for having it in front of me) and uncultured (for not knowing what I was supposed to do with it) at the same time! I ended up using it as a separate dry dip of sorts (dip pork in sauce, then dab on some sesame), but learnt later on that it should be added to the sauce (amount according to preference)... I think? Anyways, it was tasty and filling, so two thumbs up. The boy enjoyed his kids set which was served in an aeroplane container. There's a fair amount of food included (maki sushi, ebi fry, salad, teriyaki chicken, plus a bowl of udon which is not pictured) and he couldn't finish so I got to eat some of it too. Funnily enough he had room for the ice cream that came later! It's been years since our first visit to Ren. Somehow it just hasn't been that high on the revisit list but after this second visit I'm sure our next ones will come up much sooner.

Seating and environment is nice. Food was alright/good; price was just like other similar Japanese restaurants. However it was short of staff and service was not the best.

I ordered a special bento at noon today. The taste is very good and the amount is very large. I can't finish it by myself.

We used to love this restaurant But not anymore. Today we had the worst experience there. The aircon is too cold and when we ask the waitress to adjust the wind's direction she didn't do anything. She even expressed her anger by hanging the chair, customers sitting around were all so surprised. We didn't get water served and no plates were provide even after the third dish was served. I assume the girl is.the owner since she is showing her anger freely. We will never come back to this restaurant anymore since you do not care how your customer feels.

I went to the restaurant with 2 kids on Sunday at 11:40am, at that time the there is only 1 table taken. The waitress gave us a table with chairs (couch) that is lower than the other. Because my kids are still young, they will have a hard time eating with that height. I request the waitress to change another table (as there are many empty tables) This is exactly what I said: "Can we please sit at another table, because the height of the chair is not suitable for kids, can we please sit over there, (pointing at another table)" The waitress looks angry, turn her back and start throwing the cutlery on the other table (no kidding), I was shocked. I then ask her, this is exactly what I said as well "Are you not happy with your job? Why are you so angry", as I do care about other feelings as well. The reply was even more shocking "I don't have to smile at you, I like to do what I want." (maybe she’s the ower?) Sigh, I didn't expect you to smile at me but at least show some basic customer service skills, like not throwing stuff. I haven't even ordered yet. And I walked out. I have been a regular customer in Ren since they open like 5~6 yrs ago, and I notice they have to change the owner a few months ago, we used to love going there, but after today’s incident, I don't think I will ever go back. Advice to the waitress(owner?) Life is too short to do something you hate, I don't owe you anything, and your customer don't owe you anything, maybe you will feel happier if you look for a career change? Also 5 mins of meditation a day will help with your anger management. Advice to the owner To be fair, the last time I went to your place, 3~4 weeks ago, the food was still good, service was so so, but not poor. You should provide proper training to your staff. Looking at the recent reviews of your restaurant, I think your staff x it up badly.

If I could leave a -ve I would. Check this out 2 tone sashimi. Told the waiter about the sashimi, and the answer is "oh"

This place serves really good authentic Japanese food. We arrived a bit late on a weeknight and probably got mediocre service because of it. The food was, as usual, pretty yummy.
