Great authentic food! Hidden little gem! I liked all the dishes we ordered (pictured), except the sweet and sour fish one. The pickle bucket is also a must try. Desert was slightly sweet for me. But overall really good experience. Somewhere i will come back again for.
Loved the authentic experience. Very friendly staff and the food is to die for. Will definitely be back.
Food was very good. The char kway teow was very authentic to Singapore's, and the Peranakan dishes were made with a lot of heart. Service was great! Limited time slots and limited seats, so must book beforehand!
I gave this place an overall 2 star unfortunately. The food is 5 star. However, the wait for the food is really what will lead to the downfall of this place. We hope you improve on the waiting time. When we walked in, there were 4 tables of people with empty plates, all waiting for food, so I instantly knew it was a bad sign, waiting time wise. As we’ve come a long way, we persisted. We ordered our food within 5 minutes, but waited a total of 1 hour 30 minutes for our food. We didn’t order anything too complex, even the hainanese chicken rice took close to 2 hours to appear on the table. We gave up on our dessert at the end as I wasn’t sure how much longer we had to wait. Unfortunately, we won’t be coming back unless there is an improvement on the wait time.
Would highly recommend for authentic Singapore cuisine! The owner is lovely and the food is even better. Try their almond dessert it is 10/10. We will come back again! :)
We chanced upon this restaurant when searching for hokkien mee in Sydney. As a Singaporean, I am unashamedly biased about Singaporean food, even though most people prefer Malaysian food (no, it’s not the same). The moment the owner said “Wah Lau” and showed me his Pink IC (IYKTYK), I knew I’d returned home. The 20 year-long, exhaustive search of authentic Singaporean food in Sydney has finally come to a delightful climax. There are no bad dishes here. Every dish will remind you, as a Singaporean living overseas, of a little bit of home. It’s been emotional. And we will be back to experience these emotions frequently.
The food here is authentic and delicious, but the true drawing point is the warm and hilarious proprietor of this restaurant, who is always at the ready to recommend dishes, chat with patrons in basically any Asian language, and playfully scold Singaporeans for ordering things like sweet and sour pork. Highly recommend ordering the chilli crab ahead of time when booking, and bring a sizeable entourage so you can order and share everything on the menu.
Inspired by 'The Little Nyonya" drama, I've always wanted to try 'Babi Pongteh' (Nyonya Braised Pork). Through quick research it seems like this restaurant is the only one in Syd that has that dish in their menu and the taste just blew me away! I can't wait to come back and try their other dishes. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try authentic Nyonya cuisine with 5 star customer service!
Assam Prawn ($23), kang kong ($17), hainan chicken ($19), fish sambal ($23), char kweoy teow ($17), these were only rough prices from memory. Food was yummy and fun service from the owner.
We drove a long way to try the laksa and it didn't disappoint. The Roti is my favourite. Will go back with a bigger crowd so we can try more dishes. Sam (owner) is amusing and made us feel welcome.
