Ootoya Japanese Sushi Bar

Not too bad

Waited 45 minutes to 1 hour for our food. Tables that arrived half an hour after us got their food before us. Sashimi was not fresh. Soft shell crab sushi had zero crab meat. We ordered $80 of sushi and there was no apology for the wait. Customer service was also very poor. Management could obviously not handle staff or flow of service. Very awkward energy in the venue. When you pay that much for sushi and wait an hour to be served, you at least hope it will be quality and fresh seafood. Not impressed.

We've got the Veggie and Cali Rolls, probably best sushi roll we've ever had in a long time : freshness 💯, excellent and abundant portion, incredibly tasty. Price worthy. Well done guys thanks.

My husband & i love japanese & we give this a 10/10. The service is spot on friendly, welcoming & attentive. The food was delicious, hot, well seasoned & good portion sizes. Recommend there is something on the menu for everyone

I ordered take away and was really disappointed with both the quality and quantity of food here. The bulgogi was expensive, bland and about 60% bean sprouts. The sashimi was also disappointing and didn't come with any soy sauce. I ordered with menulog and if I could, I would request a refund. I was here last year and everything was really good but because of this experience will not be coming back.

3.75 out of 5. Lovely little Japanese cafe. Not a large place by any means. Rustic fare here and very welcome it was today too for our lunch. The complimentary miso soup was delicious to start. The gyoza was unusual to us as it had a harder outer than we’re used to. The filling was nice though. The mixed tempura was good. Good number of prawns, good mix of vegetables. The batter was super light. The sashimi was good. Good quality salmon, tuna etc and nicely cut. The salmon salad was good as well. Service was lovely throughout. This is a nice cafe for a quick and casual meal.

Absolutely awesome meal

As a frequent customer, I always order the chicken teriyaki bento here. But in the past month I’ve been very disappointed with their food and sanitation. The chicken was burnt or overcooked and the plates were dirty. I asked the servers to switch the plates and they kindly gave us new plates. But what disgusted me was the smell in the restaurant. Idk if it’s the servers’ aprons or clothes but it REEKED. Also the food takes 20-40 min to come out which can be a long wait if you’re hungry. I think they’re short on staff because the servers look busy all the time.
