On-Lake Cafe

Nice pop in bar on the lake, very cold though and no heaters or blankets

My hubby and I were visiting Canberra for the weekend and stumbled upon this perfectly-positioned cafe right on the lake, bathed in autumnal afternoon sunlight, with dogs and friends and cyclists stopping in to chat and sample the offerings. We enjoyed some of the tastiest coffee we'd had in Canberra, friendly, warm and genuine service and delicious Greek sweet treats. We liked it so much that we came back the following day and tried some of the lovely salads, enjoying full sunshine from our bench on a chilly day - plenty of seating on which to read our books and take in the beautiful view. This is a gem of a cafe - completely unpretentious, tasty food done well and with love. Well done, John, on persevering against the odds!

I enjoyed my coffee out of the wind today. A Greek shortbread made a delicious side treat. The staff were friendly, open hearted and efficient. The views were almost as good as those from my bicycle. All reasonably priced and cleanly made.

Beautiful day for outside eating, everyone else thought so too! And that made for slow service.. but lovely staff, nice food.

I have often walked past this café to and from work and thought it would be lovely to stop one day. My friend and I met up yesterday here and I had a wonderful breakfast. I have posted a pic. The eggs were runny, the bread soft and fresh, the spinach, tomatoes and bacon very tasty. We sat in the shade of the trees with my dog and it was delightful! Thankyou

I highly recommend riding or walking a little bit further to the next cafe instead of stopping at On-Lake Cafe. Our coffee was luke warm and tasted like only warmed up milk, our bacon and egg roll was far from anything special, and there seemed to be a few disagreements happening behind the counter. So disappointing given the awesome location and set up.

They still don't take the Covid thing seriously No CBR CheckIn QR Code just a pen and paper Max people allowed in space 25, while drinking my coffee outside I counted no less than 30 people with more walking in on the deck I mentioned it to staff and it was laughed off.
