302 Flinders Lane 3000, Melbourne
Generous portions served fresh. We over ordered for 2 and didn't struggle at all to finish our meals. Very happy with the food although our third over ordered dish came a bit late. Understandable as when they Family restaurant, they really mean it. Big thumbs up.
Going back for the first time in several years, I was happy to see inflation hasn't hit their menu as badly as elsewhere. The chicken & prawn dumplings and spring onion pancake were just as I expected - hardly fine dining, but delicious and filling. Listed (surprisingly) on Liven; Foodollar packages make for a very cheap meal.
So excited! From Northeast China myself, at this restaurant, I found home! My daughter who was born here, was equally excited and delighted as me! She said the food was taking her back to laolao (grandma)'s kitchen. It certainly brought back me my childhood memories: a dinner full of warmth, steaming and lingering fragrance. We sensed the feeling as the food critic in the movie Ratatouille. Recommand you to try Shazhucai. A dish people from Northeast often share with almost whole village. Also, the dumplings here are freshly made with care, wonderful! Recommand pickled vegetable dumplings, another special dish from Northeast.
Okay restaurant. Service was good & food was delivered promptly. Char kway teow was mediocre, with no seafood, instead served with beef. Finally found a Chinese restaurant that adds chilli when requested. Therefore could be worth another visit. Price is reasonable @ $13.50. Maybe check out thier dumplings?
The total amount was aud 93 which was reasonable and highly recommended to try out the dumplings.
Order the Kung Pao Chicken was very delicious, will be back to try other dish, friendly customer service, came back the next day order pork dumplings was really delicious, just an update the seafood soup is very nice but Maple Topu with rice was very salty and hard to eat didn’t finish it after 2 bites they didn’t charge for the Maple Tofu which was nice and very good customer service I order the pork dumplings was amazing.
Best salt and pepper tofu and vegan dumplings in all of Melbourne! Huge portions & great prices!
Dumplings are delicious and the chilli oil is spicy but nice 🌶️. Definitely recommend coming here for their dumplings. Wanted to order their kway teow, however it’s beef and when requested if the meat could be swapped for chicken as we don’t eat beef, and was told that I needed to pay extra??? Then they ran out of the green skin for the vegetarian dumplings 🥟, and asked if I’m ok with the normal skin. Normally I will oblige, however not this time as the vegetarian dumplings costs more which I supposed was due to the skin, and why should I settle for the normal skin when they wanted to charge me extra for swapping the choice of meat. Sorry, not buying it mate. Ordering is via the app and you can pay at the counter after your meals. Paid via the liven app and they charged credit card surcharge, which other stores don’t do it as it’s via the app, not an actual card. So overall even though I love their pork dumplings, but definitely not going back just because of the whole dining experience. I hope they will improve.
Yummy vegetarian dumplings and pepper tofu 💫 great price as well. Side note: I left my headphones at dinner and they let me pick them up outside of their opening hours. Very lovely people.
Super all round - great menu, fresh, well cooked, affordable, my new favourite city eatery run by some very lovely and hard working folks. 600ml Tsingtao helped make it complete.
