Wow. What a wonderful dining experience at MainStreet Cellar and Kitchen! Chef / owner Simon has designed a menu that clearly celebrates high quality local produce. We came here for a family breakfast to celebrate a special birthday. The highlight was the stunning smoked venison from a farm in Birdwood. That and the french toast, which is without a doubt to finest in Adelaide! Such a lovely atmosphere too. We will be back to try the lunch and dinner menus!
The Good: cosy place and friendly staff. Quite a selection of breakfast and brunch standards, with some nice surprises. The Reuben Sandwich was tasty and filling, the accompanying chips (though crispy out and fluffy inside) were already a challenge. The Meh: Sitting in the "window" was drafty and cool, everybody sat in coats, the seemingly only heat source of the restaurant is a slightly underpowered fire place. Only one shared toilet for the whole restaurant is strange. Flat White was good but not very hot. The Bad: The poached eggs were more like boiled eggs with the yolk all but solid, served on dry-toasted rye that was more like a cracker that bread, and a sprinkling of rocket. The hollandaise sauce seemed from the jar and was too acidic.
This was an anniversary dinner well spent the food was amazing the wines were fantastic and the service was excellent
Came here for lunch in mid June 2021 and had a wonderful time. The stand out dish was the "Croissant Terrine" - caramalised croissant terrine with dehydrated pancetta, salted pecan icecream and grilled bacon with maple syrup. This is such a creative dish; the richness and saltiness of the terrine/pancetta/bacon were perfectly balanced with the icecream. We also ordered the Reuben Sarnie and Zucchini Fritters which were also delicious. Service was friendly too. Will definitely be back.
BEST COFFEE IN THE HILLS. Eating here is like having friends lovingly host you at their home. The service is incredible and warm, you will feel welcomed. The food is fantastic, delicious and never boring. The chef is amazingly creative and skilled, its like nothing else you'll find in the Hills. You will absolutely have to leave room for desert though!
Honestly a pretty disappointing experience. Partner booked a chefs banquet special. We ended up receiving something completely different to what was advertised and a much smaller selection than what we'd been led to expect from the ad. The service was not great, did not feel very welcome. Which is a shame as its in a beautiful location. All in all, I wouldn't recommend.
Really lovely service! Both the waitress and chef were happy to chat after our meal and were very friendly considering we were walk-in customers. Food was delicious and the views were stunning. Would come back again in a heartbeat! Also very reasonably priced 👍🏼
Lovely little cafe, they have real 'sticky chai' my fave! Live music is tasteful too!
Fantastic...loved it. My kids also gave you 5 stars.
A must do! Great location. Easy parking. Service attentive, friendly and inviting. Food delicious. Support our local businesses 💞
