The best spot to satisfy all your Malaysian / Singaporean food cravings. They serve delicious, yet affordable, food with generous portion. Top notch!

Authentic Malaysian food at very reasonable prices. Highlights were the nasi lemak with beef rendang and the assam laksa. The hokkien mee was good too, but a bit sweet for our tastes. You order at the counter and the food is brought out. When it’s busy, the queue to order can be quite long, but the food comes out very quickly. Shout-out to the floor staff for handling the rush so well, and being unfailingly cheery and polite. When we come again, it will either be early on Saturday, to avoid the long wait.

Food is good, for the price. Serving size is sufficient as well. But the shop is getting too crowded during lunch hours. Limited parking on site as well.

Delicious authentic Penang-style Malaysian food at a reasonable price. They only open a few hours over lunch time and only Tue-Sat.

I'm a die hard fan of this place! Nice family run business, with a wide selection of the best food outside of Malaysia including desserts and traditional kopi

Knox Gateway Cafe Review on 13/1/2021 Unlike many Malaysian cafes and restaurants, Gateway Cafe opens at 9 am for breakfast and closes after 2 pm. The cafe is located in an industrial park, without much competition around. However, without word of mouth, it is unlikely to attract passing trade, especially from the Asian market. My wife and I come here for lunch, to test out the Nasi Lemak and Chow Kway Teow (CKT). The cafe is almost full of Asians, mainly Malaysians. A quick check of the bain-maries, I can see wraps, croissants and rolls, in addition to some fried Malaysian / Indian fried food like samosa and fried chicken thigh, chicken drumstick, lobak, samosa, etc. Hung on the wall are big red menus, which have nothing to do with foods served here. The tell tale sign indicates that the shop was once a restaurant selling pizzas. These sign boards must go! Our two dishes do not take long to arrive. They are served on plastic disposal plates, something I only expect from a food store within a shopping centre food court. The CKT has three small prawns, generous quantity of bean shoots. However, it uses rice noodles similar to the Vietnamese pho, instead of the standard wide variety. It lacks aroma or Wok Hee, and the brand of dark sauce used is a bit sweet. The Nasi Lemak does not pass my taste test. The rice is not cooked with coconut milk and pandan leaves, and therefore lacks the fragrance. The curry of the beef curry is tasty, but a couple of pieces of the beef are tough and darker in appearance, which indicates the meat is from different batches. The tougher pieces are from the older batch, possibly heated in a microwave oven, which tends to toughen the meat. I discover something missing from my Nasi Lemak; what a cardinal sin to leave out the Sambal. I check with the the young lady that took my order, and she dishes out a small bowl of sambal for us. A good sambal should be more like a paste and not too wet. It is not so, and that is evident from the photo. The presentation of the dishes is acceptable for a cafe style eatery. It is unfair to comment and pass judgement about other dishes. I am encouraged to see that the cafe is run by young people. I hope they take onboard my feedback, and rectify the shortcomings.

Visited this cafe 2nd time today. Order a number of dishes this time. All were average. KL hokkien noodle was too sweet and salty, fried been hoon is OK but serve too small. Chee Cheong Fun is very normal and need to add $2 when asked to have mixed sauces. I just can't understand how is that more expensive or more work. Kuihs were delicious but too pricey. $14 for half a durian Swiss roll was way too much. Love their chiffon cake, perfect texture.

Food is decent. There are a lot of stuff in the asam laksa…I think like chunks of asam jawa or something which makes eating the laksa not as enjoyable. Out of all the Malaysian eateries in the surrounding suburbs I found the teh tarik here the least tasty. I don’t know what they add but it tasted pretty weird and watery and not enough oomph. Curry puff quite nice. It gets pretty pricey if you order additional small items other than your main meals.

Came here after seeing recommendations on the Internet. Price is reasonable. Food is average. Service is good.
