Grandma Shields Bakery

The bakery claims they have won awards on their pies so we tried it. We were not disappointed! We tried the steak and bacon, and pepper steak. All good pies for me. They also sell coffees, sandwiches, cookies and donuts. Will recommend.

Enjoyed some lovely fluffy lamingtons & coffee scrolls for morning tea. Lovely place to visit whilst in Lorne.

Great coffee and coconut slice. A good selection of cakes, slices, sandwiches and pies. Caution the resident cockatoos are a real pain in the common eating area knocking off a patrons cake - kept a firm grasp on mine 😂

I would never ever have entered this place had I seen the reviews first. It’s always better to go and make a judgement for yourself. While the staff may not be the friendliest (not that we noticed) their food is amazing. I have 2 world class picky eaters. I bought 6 doughnuts, 4 pasties and a croissant, thinking we could share them as a family once we got to our destination. However once we reached the destination there was hardly anything left for us all. The few bites left were amazing.

This place used to be awesome. The pies to die for. Went back there after a few years. Quality not so good. Pies not award winning. donuts were great tho Been coming to Lorne for 20+ years amd they still have the same awards painted on the windows they won 30 years ago. Coz I guarantee you they haven’t won a pie award since then!!!

Had pepper steak pie and chicken pasty. Both nice. Location and non pesky cockatoos make it a worthwhile stop

AVERAGE PIES - Don't advertise as award winning when you don't live up to it. Only makes people disappointed and not wait to go back. It really tasted like four n twenty. Very underwhelming. Waited over 20 mins for coffee. Barista said they didn't expect so many people, but she said it must have been the air show and chilli peppers concert. Seriously? Meh. 3 stars.

I’ve been there once I haven’t tried out their food but all the reviews seem to make it bad !!!! The staff are very quiet so I’m not sure. The menu was look okay I guess.. but I’m not sure about “Award winning”.

Brekky at walk-in order at Grandma Shields Bakery: ate the (just lukewarm & bakery should have left the mushroom stems out) chunky Steak Mushroom PIE; pie pastry is not flaky: had shrunk & gone hard; definitely there's no oomph flavour-wise (supposedly had won a silver medal in The Great Aussie Pie Competition); further, focaccia bread lacks crispiness on the top & bottom crusts & lacks the sponginess & airy within that squish the avocado etc in the best way possible; the lot was not overwhelming in all respects; the strong capucchino ordered tasted average ie could have a more intense coffee flavour; outside scene of the bakery shop has noisy cockatoos hovering the outdoor tables & chairs & large umbrellas ... could pose somewhat a health issue !!! Yet, across the road, a pleasing sea landscape with people enjoying the beautiful weather & surfs ...

Very rude Asian lady serving. I asked if they serve Oat milk coffee and she had a laugh with her friend before answering me no. Doesn't seem like a joke to me.
