Is the dining room upstairs? Or can those with mobility challenges get the full menu downstairs?

This restaurant has potential but it needs a bit of finessing. Atmosphere is lovely! Our waitress was lovely! But here are a few points: - My friend stood by the door for 10mins waiting to be seated. A woman came up to her, asked for the booking name and then never came back. Prioritise seating people. - Ordered a wine and when it came it was at least a centimeter under the line. Don't be stingy on the pour! - I had the chicken schnitzel which was beautifully cooked BUT capers are an acquired taste, so if your going to cover people's mains in them . . please put it on the menu. - Prices are a bit steep for what you get. - last bit of advice . . . water bottles on the table. The poor waitress was trying keep everyone topped up but it was too busy. Hope you see this as constructive feedback!

Haven’t been to this place for ages. I’ve found out they have a steak night on Wednesday. Steak was damn delicious and totally worth it! Definitely would come back again .. especially for the steak night again :)

The Fitzroy Town Hall Hotel were very accommodating for our slightly larger group. We still booked in advance and they we’re fast to contact me regarding enquires of my booking. We shared a lovely meal amongst friends in the bar area which was easy to order and relatively fast service. The atmosphere and mood was low lit and ambient, very nice for the relaxed casual atmosphere we were after will definitely be back again and would highly recommend for group bookings or even a romantic dinner for two. Beautiful atmosphere, lovely staff. Thanks for a great evening!

We reserved at table for 7pm on Sunday of the long weekend. We arrived and no one was available to take us to our table for about 5 mins which is fine. The place looked lovely and cosy and we were expecting a good night out with our friends. We sat down at a nice table and our waitress informed us many dishes on the menu were already sold out - a bit odd at 7pm on a long weekend, but fine. We were told there were only two burgers left and one of our group wanted one. She came back to take our order and our friend asked for the burger. 5 mins later she comes back and tells us the burgers are sold out. Not a great start. Then throughout the evening it just got worse, hardly any water being topped up despite us having to ask - not responsible service when drinking alcohol. Then the beer we were drinking had run out, then the prosecco. It's just ridiculous, half of the menu sold out at 7pm, then the drinks. Waitress was never available to take our drinks orders as the night progressed. At the end, we get the bill. Just shy of $600 for 4 people. She said we had do finish up our drinks as the section we were sitting in was being cleaned up but we were welcome to go to the bar for drinks. It was 11pm. To our shock, a public holiday surcharge of 15% had been added to our bill - equivalent of $80. It wasn't a public holiday it was Sunday, the public holiday is on Monday. The service was terrible, most items on the menu including drinks were sold out. And then they have the nerve to ask if we wanted to leave a tip!!! We then proceeded to the bar area to continue to drink but were told it was closed. What?? We'd just been told we could go there for further drinks as they needed to close the section we dined in. We'd spent $600 and were there, keen to support local hospitality yet were met with indifferent and inattentive staff. Given covid has impacted hospitality they just didn't seem prepared or bothered. I'm really annoyed about the experience. Absolute amateurs charging fine dining prices. We ended up going to Polly's for cocktails and had wonderful service. In fact we left a $40 tip on a $290 bill there because they were so attentive, welcoming and appreciative of our custom - in the managers words 'thank you for choosing us, we know you had a choice after lockdown'. Night and day! the Fitzroy Town Hall needs to look at every aspect of their operation, from greeting to stock levels to service. Everything fell flat it was embarrassing. And yet they have the nerve to charge an $80 'surcharge'. I would recommend you stay away, it's just not good enough.

Our group booked the Cellar room for a long Sunday lunch (on mothers day which can be the most hectic day of the year)..... Needless to say we had the BEST afternoon.....service was good, food on point together with some cracking beers and a cracking wine list - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (hope we were not to loud!!) Special shout out to Roger....front of house is no easy gig and he nailed it If you want the full experience of good food, great service and a beverage list to match the vibe this is the place to go... We will be back....

Cannot fault the food, service or atmosphere. Pretty much the best meal from start to finish. Hard to go past this for quality and value for money. Compliments to the Chef.

Extremely rude staff. We were approached to leave our table and move into the bar as we had over stayed our booking which we had no prior warning of after they had taken coffee orders. The middle aged lady become quite confrontational when told we could have done with 10 minutes to finish up and started arguing with one of our party as she fed her child. She offered to refund our coffees which politely declined. 5 minutes later the barman came over and slammed down $21 on the table in front of her as she was still feeding. When your charging $15 for a pint and $38 for fish and chips you can leave the attitude out. Won't darken the door again.

Very disappointing for a rare special night out. Food was luke warm. Burger and bread were burnt. Was overcharged by a glass of wine. Service was slow. Draft from the door that was continually left open.
