We decided to come here after driving past every day for the past year, it was always there on the corner of the street glaring back at us telling us to try it, and we gave in.
We were greeted well and early, and the service was great and accomodating, particularly this one waitress. The interiors of the restaurant was also fantastic, and you can tell they definitely tried to make it as nice as they could. We have been here multiple times since our first visit, for either dessert or dinner. We tried burgers on our first time coming here, I recall myself getting a chicken burger, while my gf had a steak sandwich and a coffee. Mine was definitely fantastic, and I gobbled it all up as quick as I could. The steak sandwich was also great, however, there were parts of the meat that were definitely not cooked properly, and wouldn’t meet the standard “medium” cooked meat. We had not said anything, though it was quite ridiculous that there was meat looking this raw on our plate. The coffee was apparently average, and had tasted quite burnt. We ordered a Nutella pizza takeaway to top off our meal. It was quite nice and tasty, though it does not go above and beyond the expectations despite their name.
The second time we came here we ate in again at a similar time, and we got the halloumi burger, and a Fishermans basket if I recall correctly, and a coffee for her. The person serving us was the same as our previous visit, and she just as fantastic as before. The food was pretty good, I finished it all quickly yet again because it tasted fantastic. The halloumi burger was pretty bad however, as it the halloumi wasn’t cooked properly. The coffee this time was better than the last fortunately. We also got a strawberry and Nutella crepe this time, and it wasn’t the greatest. It was nowhere close to what I had expected. My gf could tolerate it, but it was not as good for me. The crepe was way too thick and chewy to enjoy, which is not the consistency of normal crepes, and felt more like eating bread instead. I believe she enjoyed it though, but I was let down.
The third time we came here we had ordered takeaway because it seemed quite busy and we weren’t bothered waiting. Unfortunately, we learnt this time that desserts are honestly not their greatest forte, despite their restaurant name. We got the crepes and lava cake. The crepes weren’t for me as im a big fan of lava cakes, having tried many reiterations of it at different restaurants, though it remains that dominos’ lava cakes are the best so far, despite being a fast food chain. I was incredibly let down by this lava cake, to say the least. I was worried at first because they have a lava cake on display for quick takeaways, which looked very small and cute, as if it were a sliced cake. I had ordered the one in the menu, which I had assumed was different since the price was $15, and it simply cannot be that tiny cake displayed. To my dismay, it was that tiny lava cake, and it may very well be the most disappointing lava cake I’ve had in my entire life. I was very unsure of how this might be $15 worth, and in the image shown, they had simply added ONE sliced strawberry and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, in addition to cheap supermarket chocolate sauce drenched over the lava cake. It didn’t taste good at all, it was bland and out flavoured by the cheap chocolate sauce. I had my expectations quite high, and I was a fool. This crossed the line for me, and as a lava cake connoisseur, I will probably never buy desserts here again. OTHERWISE, the other lunch/dinner type foods are fantastic, and the service is great :)
