We dined at D.B. on NYE, but only because there is a dearth of eateries in this area and with all the road closures, we had little option but to stay local. We have eaten here a number of times before, but always with a voucher or Groupon deal.Unfortunately, because it was NYE - and I’m assuming the busiest night of the year - they don’t do vouchers or deals of any kind, not even Ent Book vouchers are accepted. No byo either. Four of us dined and we shared a selection of dishes including the mixed vegetarian entrees, lamb, chicken, beef, rice, naan bread, all the usual stuff plus a couple of beers, a cold drink and a glass of red wine. No dessert. Ended up costing us $154 (without a tip), say with tip, just over $40 a head. Food was ordinary at best, apart from the lamb chops, which were succulent and tender. Serving sizes seemed smaller than before. Atmosphere was a bit more lively than usual, as the place was probably about three quarters full at its peak at about 8pm. Usually they struggle to half fill the place even on a Sat night. We sat near the open doors, but it was still stifling and unpleasantly hot. About the best thing that could be said about the whole experience was the service, which was quick, efficient and polite. Clearly, management had decided to put on extra staff for the night. Orders were smartly taken, drinks came out without delay, followed by entrees and mains with very little waiting between courses. But what really annoys about this place - and will probably guarantee that we won’t be back in a hurry - is the poor state of the toilets. I would have thought that, being the busiest night of the year, that they would at least have made an effort to keep them clean and properly provisioned, but no such luck. In the gents, there were no hand towels or paper towels or even an air dryer: Nothing to dry your hands with. We were here last October with a friend from overseas, and she was so disgusted by the toilets that she complained to the manager about it, before leaving. I would have assumed that they would have taken that criticism on board, but they haven’t, so obviously, cleanliness of the toilets is not a priority. Even the door that leads from the restaurant to the area at the back, where the toilets are, is black and grubby. Overall, this is a tired, mediocre and poorly patronised place that’s well overdue for a makeover with new management.

We just finished an amazing meal at Dal Bulhara! The food was extremely flavorful and well prepared. The owner was particularly attentive to make sure we had a good time. The staff was friendly and courteous. The food, service and ambience was top notch! Highly recommend the saag chicken, goat curry, tandoori lamb, and the tandoori roti. I’ll certainly be back and would recommend it to my friends.

Fantastic. Tasty, high quality and authentic Indian food, with generous servings and very affordable. The service can be a little bit slow, but extremely friendly and genuine.

Food was good but the service was terrible. The staff only pays any attention to the cluster of deliverers in the middle of the restaurant.

We had an awesome experience here tonight, the owner and staff were very welcoming and helpful. Most importantly the food was spectacular - I don’t normally enjoy the butter chicken at Indian restaurants but this one was great! Not to mention the lamb chops and the Saag chicken which were our favourites! Will definitely be back for more!

Far better than your average Indian restaurant in Sydney even though the night started a bit poorly when they couldn't find the booking which had been made online weeks earlier, and a reminder sent to me the night before. I was almost blamed for them not finding the booking though obviously it was not of my doing. The food was tasty though I thought the servings were a bit on the small side. The real let-down was the service. They had a charming young Indian girl who was doing almost all the order taking, serving and table clearing throughout the night. This girl worked like a trooper but the task was more than any one waitress could handle on a busy Saturday night and I recommend they hire another waitress or have the manager do something, which he barely did all night. I'll go back when I don't have to witness such an over worked waitress.

I've been a customer of this restaurant for the past 3 years and have always enjoyed the food. My negative rating here is given in relation to the delivery service they operate which is the worst I've experienced in Sydney. I normally collect my takeaways and have no issues when I do that. I've ordered delivery around 5 times and each time it has taken between 90-120 minutes to arrive and been cold. Whenever I contacted the restaurant to check the status of a delivery they would always say the driver will be there soon...which was totally untrue. No apology or compensation offered. Never again. In short, worth a visit or pick-up but don't do delivery as it is simply not reliable.

Very rude staff. Doesn’t respect customer at all. Reply to business owner’s response: First of all, Australia is not new to us, we are familiar with local restaurants here and we’ve been to so many places with awesome food and services because we live here and this is home for us. Secondly, I totally understand if restaurant are closing which kitchen stops with last orders. Most of the restaurant do that. You don’t need to mention it. Nothing new. We were not complaining about you are closing or about to close or closed. We are simply saying your staff are rude and didn’t attend us as a normal restaurant will do. We understand your kitchen might be close at that hour, so purposely asked before we enter. “Is your kitchen still open?” “Yes, please come in” - your staff attended us and brought us menu. 5 mins later, we were informed kitchen are closed, and someone which I think was manager was loudly asking us to leave. It sounded in a way that we are 100% not welcomed there and need to leave soon as some of the main lights were turning off while we were informed. There’s nothing you can do to change our experience. I don’t feel that business owners here respect customers and our existence at a later hour is kind of a burden to your restaurant. We came to your place because we respected different cultures and love Indian cuisine, not because you are the only one! Probably next time you should train your staff to simply tell the customer our kitchen is closed instead of letting customers hopes up and then turn it down. Disappointing.
