No pic, but great place. Food. Great, service excellent. π₯π
Delicious food ! Kangaroo and Barramundi and even seafood crepes the service was outstanding the drink prices ($6-7) are exceptional. There is a $20 barramundi chips and salad lunch special which is superb. Wonderful couple who runs this place definitely worth a stop in for lunch or dinner if you are in the area and on the way to or from daintree village.
Came here for lunch on a group tour. The Barrβs was delicious and so was the array of seasonal fruits. I found the following talk about the fruits really interesting too.
Had a pretty terrible meal as part of a day tour of the area. My allergies were completely ignored and the food I could eat was terribly prepared. I love kangaroo steak and cook it myself. After our guide promised 'if you've had kangaroo before and found it tough, it was overcooked, this place cook it perfectly every time', we were sorely let down! The kangaroo was served well done, not medium rare as requested, and it was tough as old boots. I managed a couple of bites from the centre in the hope this would be the rarest, before realising this steak was beyond help. The redeeming feature was supposed to be the tropical fruit talk, but it was delivered so strangely. It would have been great to have the talk while tasting each fruit, but instead before the meal we were very quickly told what we were about to eat without seeing it, and then at the end we were told what we'd eaten. But all without photos and pretty vague descriptions, so nobody really knew what they ate or could appreciate it (bar the pretty widely available fruits of mandarin, pineapple, rambutan and persimmon). It was a wasted opportunity in my opinion. The staff were somewhere between friendly and rude, a very strange experience. They were friendly enough but once someone dared to ask if they could order a drink, they were told 'well I'm doing this first so you'll have to wait'. Not what you expect in a restaurant for sure.
A gem find! Driving around we were hungry so decided to stop for lunch. Extremely friendly service and the food was amazing. To be sitting, literally, in the forest was just a beautiful experience. A must if you're around the Daintree area.
Family of 6 enjoyed lunching at DTR. The barramundi (chef's special and the one infused with macadamia) was superb! the owner (Peter) also shared his knowledge of the various exotic fruits, it made for a very entertaining dining experience! the price was very reasonable as well. Will be back next time we holiday in this part of Australia. Note to owner: please update the signage outside if you wish for walk-in customers?
Barramundi was delicious, the view was great, and I loved the knowledgeable talk about fruit we enjoyed while eating. My only gripe is the vegetarian option offered via our tour was a stir fry, which came with chips, salad and a side of tropical fruit - not the most ideal combo!
Beautiful Barramundi with exotic tropical fruit . Great explanation of fruits by the Host . Part of a terrific tour .
It was awesome! Food was very tasty and we got a class of fruits and veggies that grown locally, just perfect atmosphere. We will come back
Had lunch today at this lovely hidden gem, would highly recommend making the trip out not only was the food amazing but the atmosphere was so tranquil and beautiful. The service was phenomenal the best I've had in a very long time.
