Cafe Merkama

Amazed to find this cuisine in Ballarat, and glad that it's here! We ordered the tasting plate and the love cake, for two of us it came to just over $50. The food was great, although I didn't know what to expect with the love cake, I didn't really like it after the first bite, however the taste started to grow on me and I finished it off :) Some other reviews say it's not filling and it's too expensive, I don't agree with that at all. I'd been fasting for 20 hours before this meal and felt like I was ready to explode, and $50 for two people is great value! The owner is very friendly as well. Look forward to going back soon.

We got the vegan platter which had 8 options that night. The meal was so filling and delicious and came out quickly. Only thing I would say is it would be great to see in from the street as if I were a passer by I wouldn’t have know it was open.

Super friendly owner and super yummy Ethiopian food. The place is nicely decorated with Ethiopia items to entertain you rather than your phone.

Amazing place, amazing owner and amazing food. Made a special day for myself and my parents whom I took out for dinner. They'd never tried Ethiopian food before, and they are glad they did!

Possibly the very best curry I have ever eaten. Go the goat, but order large, as servings are small. Especially so when they taste so good 🙂

Was actually rendered speechless! The food was incredible. I’ve had Ethiopian food before but this was special! A lot of love in these dishes! We just got the shared plate for two and tried a bit of everything, the flavours were unreal! Everything was cooked to perfection! The owner was lovely, super friendly and helpful! We also had the Vegan Love Cake! A must try IMO!!! Thank you very much! 100% back again when we’re out this way
