Have been here twice and was really impressed by the food, in particular the extra flavours and seasoning that you don’t normally find on standard breakfast meals like bacon and eggs or avo on toast. Serving sizes are very generous, prices are reasonable, and coffee and juices are great too. Can be very busy especially on a sunny day, but was quiet on a rainy day we visited. It’s a lovely little dog friendly cafe, fresh, bright and Scandinavian vibe, right on the riverside in Teneriffe, which there aren’t really any others along the riverside walk quite like this.

BRUNCH became LUNCH! In fairness it was a busy sat morning. We ordered $124 worth at 10.44am. the drinks took about 12-15 minutes, that was fine. The bagel and scrambled eggs for our kids took 46 minutes to arrive. They only started cooking the crepe at 11.35am! (We had a crystal clear line if sight into the kitchen stove from where we sitting next to the kitchen counter). It arrived on our table at 11.46am, along with the barko burger. 55 minutes for all the food to arrive. When I wanted to speak to the manager, I was told by the waitress they don't have a manager. Overall the staff don't really seem to care, no one really seemed too keen to be there - perhaps there is poor morale or tension in the kitchen (who knows). The food was presentation was good, but it really lacked seasoning and flavour... The chicken mushroom crepe didn't taste bad, it was just tasteless... It wasn't seasoned at all. I suspect they only have one cook/chef and she looked pretty disinterested in her job. Perhaps the food will be better when they are not so busy. Perhaps it's the whole post covid trouble with hospitality staff (again, Who knows). We won't be back. It's all about the hip location, location, location... Food that looks good but is tasteless to average. The drinks were average as well. At least the guy (who apparently is not the manager) offered us free coffees due to the long wait. The waitress claimed she told us that the food would be delayed but that was already after 40 minutes of waiting... What's the point of informing customers there's going to be a delay or long wait after 35-40 minutes of waiting. That should be stated upfront when ordering. Adds new meaning to the phrase "ALL DAY BREAKFAST" ;) In all likelihood, no management will care about this review... They probably don't need to... (It's all about the location, what a gold mine!).

Not much else to say except- VISIT! You will have zero regrets. The atmosphere is super chill and the view is to die for. It is one on Newstead’s hidden gems and my favourite place for a Sunday morning feed and read. The staff are lovely, the food is flavoursome and the coffee is brewed to perfection. I love their eco friendly cups and approach to cooking. Very very high on the visit list!

I love the view, the coffee is good (had an ice long black), but today the food slightly disappointed. I had the egg and bacon bagel and it just wasnt what i was expecting. I've had other meals here before in the past and don't remember being as disappointed. Perhaps I just chose poorly today. The quality was fine but I just found the dish itself average. I think $16 for the bagel was a bit of a rip off too. My husband didnt seem too impressed with his either. This Cafe is right on the river, dogs welcome, it's a really nice spot.

food is below average, too expensive for what you get, my latte was extremely hot and milk was burnt, staff were rude when I told them about the coffee, and the waiter said he will let the barista know but didn't offer to replace the coffee. went there twice with friends but never happy. the only good thing is the location and view.

Barko is one of our favorite places to go for a quick coffee on a weekday, their coffee quality is amazing, or a beautiful brunch on the weekend. Their menu is just as great as the quality of their food and drinks. Love it!!

The cheesecake was good, but the coffee was not. Nothing against their coffee, just the coffee beans they used were not to our likings. It tasted flat, especially the soy flat white. All I could taste was the soy milk. The cheesecake was very delicious on the first few bites but was too much for one person to finish. The service was good, not as terrible as a few reviews made it sound like.

This is a really nice Cafe in a great location by the river and a nice 15min walk down river from New Farm Park. We didn't book so sadly had to sit inside. The decor is nice inside too but I'd recommend trying to score an outside table as those are the real reason you come to a riverside Cafe. The food came at a decent speed despite being fairly busy. The staff were nice and the barista was kind. We ordered an omelette and huevos rancheros. Both were pretty good although I think the heuvos rancheros could have done with some additional flavour. It looks great but I feel like it was missing some seasoning - nothing really stood out to make it particularly flavourful - some more cheese, herbs... maybe some Tabasco sauce, I don't know. Something! We got drinks at the end and the Chai latte was good. Can't comment on the others but again they came quickly. I'd probably come again? But if I had to choose here or let's say Medley in Kangaroo Point, I'd do Medley (despite being more expensive). If I was in New Farm again and fancied a walk and giving something else on the menu a try - yeah why not. It's got location, ambience and friendly staff so it's defintely worth your time! Enjoy.
