Good service. Great food. Very reasonable prices.

I've never tried eating at a restaurant serving traditional Shanghai style food before, so this is quite an experience. Our friend ordered about about 5 small dishes, 1 boneless duck filled with rice (heard it takes many hours to prep this dish. Pre-order only), and a soupy dessert. All are quite tasty and will definitely return to try other dishes. Downside: it seems there's only 1 person working on the floor. So it does take quite a bit of waiting in between serves. Also there are only a few tables, so book a table just in case. Oh, the ladies toilet cubicle door can't be closed properly.

Friendly Boss Lady. Yummy food just the way Shanghainese likes. Cannot go back to Shanghai right now, but certainly can come to here to satisfy the taste buds.

Authentic Chinese! The service was typically slow, it's the standard for a place like this. This is nothing like your local Chinese takeaway, so keep an open mind. The food was good and unusual at the same time. If you're keen, you should try this place.

COMRADES! Have you been in the land of the capitalists for many years and miss the taste of food from the old country? Perhaps you dream of the traditional bamboo soup Comrade mama use to make, using equal volume of water and MSG? Never fear (unless you have health issues where high salt content can kill you, in which case very much fear), August café will have you believing you are back in Shanghai, you can almost taste the socialism. Long live dirty dishes, long live 3% surcharge on credit cards!

Used to frequent this place when I was staying in coventry street. The coffee is still as good as ever. The pizza they make here is worth trying. Not sure during Covid times though.

I have to say that this is Shanghai dishes taste. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Shanghai delicious food.

Food is worth 4 or 5 stars but the environment and atmosphere here is just disaster. not a good place for dinning. PEST CONTROL NEEDED!!!

I gave it a 2 star because it was something different. Honestly it's not the greatest, all the dishes I had last night tasted the same, using ABC sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar and caramel sauce etc. For a good banquet meal of lots of main courses for a group of 10, it wasn't that special. Price too expensive on cheap products used.
