27 Charles St, Abermain
Tucked away in a quiet quarter, the Abermain Hotel proudly declares itself as the oldest commercial building in this once thirsty mining town. Jade Smith, licensee, is typical of the energy and enthusiasm it takes to uphold such a title. Affectionately known as Griffoβs, the local has been preserved in federation free style featuring an impressive lead-light window at the top of the cedar staircase and a lookout tower. We booked a family room in early autumn only to find we had the whole place to ourselves. At $179 a night, it is certainly good value for money. There is plenty of room around the tiled hearths on winter nights or out in the pleasant beer garden on sunny days. Why not not pull up a stool in the public bar alongside loyal patrons past and present and soak up the fine selection of regional beers, ciders and vintages.
This 115 year old hotel has been lovingly restored to its former glory . It offers a bar area with TAB facilities and Keno and its very clean and tidy . There is a cafe which serves some very nice food which is reasonably priced . There are also rooms available to stay in that are very cheap and basic ' but spotlessly clean .They also have different food trucks on the weekends .
This old style hotel which has been renovated was a great venue for our daughter and her friends 21st birthday here. The accommodation was booked for 35 exclusively for Friday / Saturday night. The rooms which revamped were clean, beds were comfortable and rooms were good. Offers share bathrooms which worked well for this group and also small kitchenette with fridge available. Ideal for a weekend getaway in the Hunter Valley. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating, the beer garden ideal for a function and everyone had a great weekend. Thanks again to Jade and the staff at Abermain Hotel. We would thoroughly recommend as a venue and it was ideal for small functions.
Nice little pub. Staff are friendly, the weekly food vans offer a nice change to the regular pub meals offered everywhere else. The beer garden is also quite lovely with the lights on.
Beautiful old pub friendly atmosphere
Great little country pub with friendly staff and ever changing food trucks for different foods worth a visit
Lovely place and people, we love enjoy the food trucks with few nice beers they got!!!
We stayed at this beautiful historic pub in Abermain, a small Hunter Valley town, on a road trip from Melbourne. Friendly locals in the bar, great selection of craft beers and delicious food. Accommodation is clean and comfortable with bush views. Easy going and thoughtful service. Walk around town and check out the historic plaques or take a short drive to wineries. Highly recommended
My wife and I and some friends dropped in for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meals served up. My Thai Beef salad was one of the best I've had in a long time, the depth of flavour and freshness was awesome, I can't wait to return and try more of this pubs menu.
Would definitely stay again. Good value, lovely team and friendly locals. Location was great for wineries and wildlife too. Only suggestion would be some more local wines available at the bar but there was a good beer selection.
