Authetic korean bbq run by koreans. Decent prices. Loved the hot kimchi soup on a cold perth night

Have been coming in here regularly. Perfect late night eats with great filling but not too much portions. Service is quick. Nothing to complain to be frank.

The beers here are amazing - their surprising flavours do not overpower the beer. The food was tasty. The dim sum platter had four different dumplings, and I thought the scallop/prawn truffle dumpling was the best. The service staff could use a little more training. They were polite but left a little to be desired. Overall Shy John was a good experience and I'll be back to try more beers and dumplings.

Romantic and enjoyable atmosphere and friendly staff. Comfortable seats. Just one star less for professionalism. We ordered Lobster san choy bau. The dish arrived and the staff prepared it and served it on the table. My wife asked me whether it was lobster. Thinking in my head, "obviously has to be, we ordered it", I just asked the waitress whether it was lobster. She said "the kitchen is very busy today, this is scallops san choy bau". We said, "but we ordered Lobster san choy bau, didn't we?". She said "yes you did". Later she said "kitchen got it mixed up". My wife worked it all out much faster than me. Basically, they just hid the fact that the kitchen made an error but let it slip as if we would not notice or to take it for granted.

Gami chicken is a popular Korean fried chicken (and beer) place in Melbourne, and I was excited to find it had opened in Perth! Service was actually extremely friendly (and funny) on both occasions I came to the new store. On my Friday night visit, we asked for a table for 11 when the place was really busy (they don't take bookings), and expected to be turned away, but he took a look around, took a deep breath, and was like "yep give me 10mins, I can make it happen". Overall though, they definitely seem to be having beginners troubles at this new store, and I hope they work through these issues or the Perth locals won't come back, and that'll be game over for Gami in Perth. On my weekday lunch visit, waiting times were really long, not good for workers on their break. They seemed to also be having supply chain troubles, with no pickled radish side dish on the Friday night, apparently being in WA isn't easy..! One other thing I noticed was how "westernised" the store had become. No chopsticks at the table! Maybe you just need to ask for them, not sure.. The food is cheap and tasty, nothing fancy, it's a good spot to eat with friends.

Exceptional food taking you on a culinary journey of thailand matched with modest prices, an array of wines to suit everyone and service that is highly welcomed in Perth from a non obtrusive team dedicated to customer service. This venue is a gem to a street lacking quality. The turmeric pork and papaya salad is a must!
Great menu with regional Chinese dishes, very fresh and authentic flavours. Neat restaurant fit out. Generous serves. Recommmend!
