Viet Street Eat

121c Brighton Rd Sandgate 4017, Brisbane

This place rocks!!!!! I am so glad it has opened near where I live. Beautiful, fresh, cheap and quick to serve. I love the touches of some homemade pickled vegies for a side order. my usually finicky daughter also loved it... making me even happier. Just like a cool Meblourne restaurant, but at home:). I cant rave about it enough, it is my new local and favourite haunt. I am tempted to keep it as a closely guarded secret, so it doesn't get any busier....but too good not to share.

975 Gympie Rd 4032, Brisbane

Mum wanted noodles but the two dishes she wanted were sold out. Third time lucky she got fish balls and noodles. Things didn't fair well for Dad who wanted an apple juice but they were sold out. In addition, Dad’s order got mixed up and he ended up with something he didn't want. We were told if he wanted a change it would be a 20 minute wait. My green pawpaw salad was refreshing with a good serving of pork and prawns. I wonder if they had white spot disease given the big problems in Queensland. The disease doesn't affect the taste and it's harmless to humans. It should make prawns cheaper to buy too.

The three little pigs is not a bad banh mi at all. I was a bit sad there were no drinks available when we visited as I was very keen to get a Vietnamese iced coffee because they're awesome.

东记 Vietnam Corner BBQ Restaurant

358 Mains Road Sunnybank Plaza Shopping Centre, Shop 140 0, Brisbane

We made a booking for this restaurant for 6.30pm on a Friday night. Gee I'm glad we did, it gets very busy soon after that. After driving around two or three times looking for a park I opted to drive to the upper level carpark where there was heaps of parking. We were seated at a table in front of the BBQ preparation area so were entertained by the all the goings on as they skillfully chopped away on BBQ pork, Soya Chicken and my fav Duck.. I'll mention at this point if your going to show your chefs at work to the public maybe they shouldn't wipe the sweat from their face with their bare hands and then grab half a chook and cut it up. But hey this is the unofficial Chinatown of Brissy.. The setting was more a large Asian Cafe style. Noise levels when it was full was OK. You could still hear each over talk without to many problems. Service was very good and fast. A pleasant surprise was the sign BYO welcomed 'No Corkage' and still they provided clean wine glass and a ice filled wine bucket. There were plenty of good choices on the menu. We ordered 4 different starters and 4 mains. This fed 4 adults and 3 teenagers with some leftovers. All our meals were very good which I have found in the past shows that any choice from the menu should have the same result. So the big question I always ask people is 'Would I go back?'. Yes I would. Good quality food, Good service and reasonable prices. I wouldn't good there for a nice romantic evening with my wife. It's not that sort of restaurant. Oh and they did a roaring trade in take-away meals another good option.
