I was reluctant to try Panda Garden as it only had 2 reviews which were very different to each other. I went on Sunday night & found it had a few people sitting in the restaurant already (which was a good sign). I ordered takeaway, i found they had a very extensive menu with your typical chinese fare, but the prices were pretty average with their entrees starting around the $5 mark and their mains averaging around $12.90 to about $17.50 (for the duck dishes). I ordered fried wontons, special fired rice, combination omelette, salt and pepper squid & sweet and sour pork. The staff were very friendly and attentive, I noticed how they were serving the sit in diners as well as how they served me, they advised me it would be about 15 to 20 min wait for my order, so i popped out to the shops to get some drinks etc. I came back about 20 mins later and noticed there were more diners in the restaurant now. Sunday night during winter in Nowra, pretty good. I was advised my food wasn't ready yet just a couple more minutes (which I wasn't bothered about as that would mean it would be nice and fresh when i got home). Firstly, the food was PACKED to the top of the containers, some places I get takeout its all sauce and the food is usually on the stingey side, but the sweet and sour pork was packed. All the food tasted DELICIOUS, especially the sweet and sour pork (it wasnt overly sweet which i dont like, but the pork was nice and tender with the veggies still a bit crisp so it complimented the dish (special mention to the carrot having a scalloped edge and sliced thinly). The combination omelette was divine, had just the right amount of egg and fillings, the special fried rice was nice and toasted with a good amount of fillings like prawns, chicken, pork and veggies. The salt and pepper squid was nice and crispy still, as mentioned I travelled home which is 20 minutes from the restaurant and it hadn't gotten soggy as it was packed in a box sat on top of crispy noodles and air holes had been pierce at the top of the box to allow steam to escape. All in all a very enjoyable meal, I would definitely go back and think I have found the best Chinese food in Nowra, I thought I would take the time to write a decent review as they had clearly made an effort with their food and so deserve it!
